I really loved the Uglies series!
I think my favorite was Pretties, closely followed by Uglies. Not to say that I didn't like Specials, I was just a little disappointed by it. I have not read Extras yet, though I just bought Peeps by Scott Westerfield.
Is Extras worth reading?

the uglies series was awsome!!
extras was ok but uglies is still awsome!!!!
hehehe
Oh my goodness yes! It's probably my favorite so far.
I never realized it was in Japan...until now. So Your not the only one. But I didn't like extras compared to the other books, and I loved Tally's point of view, it just well, fit me. There wasn't enough action and that was what really irritated me.

I liked Extras, but I didn't understand that they were in Japan until like the middle of the book.
I realize I'm mentally challenged.
I have been wanting to buy it for some time. I really enjoyed Uglies, however Pretties and Specials were just disappointing. I think that it was just because they felt 'wrong' to me. The "Tally-Wah" and "Shay-La" slang just annoyed the heck out of me, and I could not take it. Plus, I could not stand Zane. At all.
Well, it's funny, I've never read the books but, a friend of mine read all of them and got Extras. I asked her if it was good and she said no. I don't know if you care because I've never read it. But that's what she said.
>< It's a side plot. As long as you don't keep comparing it to the Uglies series, it's perfectly fine. I read it a bit later after reading Uglies, pretties, specials- so maybe I was looking at it with a fresh mind. Or maybe I just liked the concept, and that was enough to keep me happy. Who knows, with me.
well, I liked it, but it was no way near the sheer awesomeness of the first three. I wouldn't recommend reading it if you love the series as it is, but otherwise, go ahead
It was interesting at first, but then it bored me. Nothing really happened...well, things did happen, but you could sort of tell how it was going to end. >.<
Awesome, I suppose I'll read it then.
I liked extras. But maybe I was just sick of Tally. And all that slang... ><; The Asian-esque version of the slang is much better then 'bubbly-making' and 'Tally-wah' that just irritated me and took away from an otherwise good series XD
It's basically another city with Asian roots, from what I could tell. Less restrictions, and the whole city works on your popularity rank. Interesting concept.
Go for it. It only took me an hour or two to read.
It is basically an entirely different book. I didn't like it very much, but it was entertaining. It was kind of like a side-plot. The MC is not Tally.
