perhaps became my favourite word,
i dont remember when
but it is a word that i feel closest to,
perhaps it is what id describe myself as
although not many people would describe themselves as perhaps
perhaps, i would
perhaps, perhaps is home to me
perhaps, i dont even know its meaning
when did i grow familiar with a word
more than i did with people
why do i relate with it?
it is just 7 letters
i have no answer
or perhaps i do
did i always use this word?
perhaps i did
so many perhapses in my life,
perhaps i am one too
and theres also perchance,
following along
but its just too beautiful
and its just too long

Literary spotlight on your first poem!!! Congrats ^^
HAI HAI FELLOW NEW YWS MEMBER !!!!!!! :3!!!
I am actually transfixed by this poem! There is something so haunting and quiet about the way you’ve turned a simple adverb into a whole identity. It doesn’t just feel like a poem about a word; it feels like a confession of what it's like to live in the "in-between."
The way you play with the rhythm of perhaps is just exquisite. It’s like a heartbeat that’s slightly off-tempo, especially when you say "perhaps is home to me." That line is so visceral because it captures that feeling of being unsure about everything except your own uncertainty. I am genuinely electrified by the vulnerability here! The way you admit to being more familiar with a 7-letter word than with people is so real and human. It’s a "revelation" that feels both sophisticated and deeply melancholic!
I only have one tiny tip to make this even more electrifying! Since the word "perhaps" is the heart of the poem, you could use bolding or italics to make it feel even more like a physical presence. Imagine if every time you questioned yourself, the word was tilted. It would add such a cool visual layer to your "perhapses"! Also, don't be afraid of some expressive punctuation! A well-placed ellipsis (...) or a sudden question mark could really emphasize that "nauseating" feeling of not knowing the answer!
I also love your choice to bring in perchance at the very end! Describing it as "too beautiful" and "too long" gives the poem such a sophisticated edge. It makes the "perhapses" in your life feel smaller and more intimate compared to the elegance of perchance. Your command of emotional storytelling is just perfection. I am totally captured by this "perhaps" world you've built! I LOVE IT ALLLLLLLLL!!!!

THANK YOUUUUU FOR THE REVIEW!!! IM GLAD YOU LIKED THE POEM!!!

ill try bolding and using italics as you suggested
but i dont use punctuation in my poems much, it makes me feel weird since i dont usually capitalize my alphabets, although ill give it a shot!!
thank you again!!!!
What a wonderful poem! Perhaps is indeed a very nice word, I use it quite often in my daily life as well. Mostly to be silly when my spouse or friends ask me a question, but still.
This poem makes me think about what word I would be or what my favorite word is! Which, arguably, one of the best things a piece of writing can do is make you question something. Overall, a great poem!
Have a good night and keep up the great work!
thank youuu fellow perhaps-lover
