My Haunted Old House – 191 Boon Lay Drive

by joshuakien57

I am gonna share a story that happened in my previous house.

In fact, I had a lot of encounters during my 12 yrs stay in that flat.

The most eerie thing about that house has always been from the kitchen. The kitchen was designed in an inverted ‘l’ shaped where there is a sink located next to the fridge hence lights from the window is pretty limited.

Anyway, my pc is placed in the living room having my back facing a very big praying alter. My mom used to be an active member of a ‘sin tua’. However, since my uncle who used to stay with us, moved out and brought along my late grandfather’s tablet with him, we always have a lot of strange sounds coming from the kitchen. Not forgetting, the talisman which was stick on the wall outside our house, above the door, tore on it’s own after that. And i always tell my mom that the worship ‘idol’ seems to be empty unlike how it was in our previous house in Bukit Merah.

Many nights after my o levels, i would stay up and surf net, chit chat, play games on my pc into wee hours in the morning. And every single night i will always have this strong feeling constantly that someone is staring at me from the kitchen. Every time i look back, there’s nothing. Apart from the ‘stares’, there will always be this ‘tud’ sound like someone placing the cup down, coming from the kitchen where my grandfather’s tablet used to be at. Many times i always thought it was my dad as he sometimes will wake up in the middle of the night and head for a cup of water without switching on the lights. But every time i check, my dad is always sleeping like a log.

Once, which i thought was the worse, was when i was happily gaming away, with both my parents asleep, there was a loud bang that came from the inside of our shoe cabinet. Our shoe cabinet was place in the house you see. It can’t be any form of mouse that had sneak in without opening it! That was the final straw for the night. I immediately shut down and head to bed.

Hello there, human! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today!

Shalt we commence with the mutated S’more?

Top Graham Cracker - The narrator lives in a haunted house, but are they alone in their beliefs? Is it something that they must keep deep inside?

Slightly Burnt Marshmallow - I think that you meant to say “its’” at one part, but that’s just one little thing.

Chocolate Bar - I like the sense of terror creeping in around the corners. What exactly is in the house is never described, which leaves it up to the reader to decide what’s happening, which is…terrifying. I like that. :>

Closing Graham Cracker - A lovely little short story on a house that is just a bit haunted. I’ve enjoyed reading this and I will consider reading the ghost stories provided in the links. ^v^

I wish you a fantastic day/night!

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),

Hi! I'm Kate and I'm here to leave a quick review!!

First Impression

Well this was quite a cute little ghost story here, I think you've done a great job of setting it all up and then really bringing up a nice little collection of little spooky encounters.

Anyway let's get right to: Kate's Line by Line Reactions;

OOoh fairly spooky little start here already, staring off with there being quite a lot of activity mentioned an then the slightly odd shape of the house which already introduces an interesting little point of difference into things.

Oooh well lots of interesting little details thrown up about this house as we go on. Just one by one, little trinkets adding to the pile of things that could lend themselves just a little bit to a problem or two. I think that's quite nicely constructed to really showcase what kind of situation this house happens to be in here.

Oooh I love the way this is brough up here. Just slightly odd unexplained happenings, nothing so big that it would be really tough to not have another explanation, and just strange enough to get your unsettled. Its a good combination there to build on horror.

Well that's a neat little ending there. I think you did a lovely job really building it up there with those smaller thing to earn that little big noise to really bring across a nice bit of spookiness. Really nicely done there.

Aaand that's it for this oneee!!!

Overall

Overall really nice done here, one of those more simple horror stories that really seem very believable and don't stray too far into the realms that get them to sound like pure fiction. Quite nicely done.

As always remember to: Take what you think was helpful and forget the rest!

Stay Safe and Have a Nice Day!
Kate

Wow, this was a very good short ghost/paranormal story I am now really interested to know what else happened in your haunted flat? Good writing(I can't critique much since I am an amateur myself).
