Death,
Your cloak shrouds me with your endless darkness. Your scythe beckons me to its wicked blade. Your dark empty gaze pierces my soul. Your ominous presence evokes an abounding fear in my heart. But no longer shall you cast your shadow of fear over me. I have taken up a sword that shall strip your cloak into nothingness. I have taken up a shield so your scythe may not reach my flesh. I have taken up a golden breastplate that shall reflect your dampening gaze. No longer shall you be greeted by despair and grief. Know this, that if you come to my home, you will be greeted with a light to pierce your veil of darkness and a sword to pierce your breast.
Sincerely,
The Fearless

Hello,
this poem is amazing! I could feel the writer of this letter growing stronger through out and becoming fearless. The imagery is great in this poem and I love all of your word choices. The shift from fear of death to not letting death control and scare you in this poem is great.
you did an amazing gob.
keep writing!

I agree with what @Questio said, this work is very much like a poem. I love it, honestly! I really like the way you wrote and I could feel the courage seeping out of the writer of the letter. I'm excited to see more of your work and I hope you find YWS awesome and motivating! If you ever need anything feel free to PM me!
I'm sorry my review was short, but I hope it was helpful at least,
Alice ♥
Thank you so much! I am just glad you liked it this is really the first thing I have ever shared! I'm trying to be more confident lol.
Hey there, and welcome to YWS! I almost scrolled past this without reviewing, but I think it has too much potential to ignore.
The idea is awesome. I really like how the letter is signed "The Fearless," I thought that was a great touch. It would take fearlessness to send such a letter to death.
The thing that gets me though is I'm not sure this is really a letter. I know it's formatted like one, with a little greeting and signature at the end. But just reading it... This is a poem. Break up the sentences into individual thoughts and it is a poem. It the thoughts even have an element of flow to them.
You have great word choice and a dramatic command of language, don't limit yourself to stuffing everything in one paragraph. Make this the amazing poem it could be. Lines, stanzas, all that jazz. You can still have the greeting and signature at the end, but make the letter a poem.
I say this for two reasons. One, the idea is very poetic. The Fearless, shaking their fists at fate and laughing in the face of death-- challenging it, even. And two, the wording is too poetic and sublime for prose. It is elegant, graceful, dramatic, and original.
Think about when you write letters (or emails, or what have you). Do you talk like this? Do you regularly use such elegant powerful wording and phrasing? I don't know you, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say probably not. I don't. Just look at how I'm formatting this review; I'm saying it as if I'm talking to you. That is what letters do, they talk to people. This poetic writing style seems like too much for a letter.
I hope I helped in some way. You don't have to take any of my advice, or even agree with it at all. As long as I made you think about it at least a little, I've accomplished my goal. I will wrap up by summing everything up and saying I love the idea, but think about how you are presenting it and how you want to present it? Want a letter, make it a letter; want a poem, make it a poem. Devote yourself to one or the other, or both as long as they are separate.
Message me with any questions or concerns. I really like this work, and you are very talented. Keep it up.

Thank you so much for the review it really means a lot to me that you enjoyed it. I completely understand what you mean. I actually was going to write it like a poem but, I was not sure how to do it. I was afraid that it would lose power if I were to lay it out differently. I would like to turn it into a poem format so if you have any tips don't be shy I can always use them
