E - Everyone

When will it be my day?

PreviousNext

When you’re forced to live in a world untrue.

Where everyone else seems so different from you.

You look all around the fog in which you’re trapped.

What else can you do?

Maybe try to pick up something new, a hobby, a job maybe.

Yet how can I face all these situations and people when I can’t even face me?

My faith was strong now it’s slowly crippling again.

How do I know what happens when it ends?

What if it never does?

What becomes of me then?

I cling to the things I love to discover they’re nothing but dirt.

In the end I don’t even shed a tear.

Oh how being emotionless can hurt.

I dream of the day I convert into the heavens to watch my sorrows drown.

But how can I believe such a day will come when the pain is always around?

The shimmers of hope are quickly replaced by a slap in the face.

How many demons must one constantly face?

Leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me alone.

I always shout this to myself, same way, same tone.

I dream of happier days.

I desperately want things to go my way.

Is that because I’m selfish or afraid? Who’s to say?

Then I take a deep breath and feel the light in my soul.

I try to feel the silence in the love but then the demons come back out to play.

They all shout hooray as I lay crippled in dismay.

Okay, Okay, everything will one day, be okay…

I really like this poem and how it reflects upon your emotions. I am a little curious to as of why you rhymed at some parts but did not at others. (Just call me George.) I also liked how your poem flowed easily. I read it out loud and I did not have to pause to think about the placement of the words. All in all it was a beautiful read. Keep writing!

I must say that I really liked this poem. It seems very deep and personal, and it draws into its dark theme immediately.

I really like the line, "How many demons must one constantly face." I'm not exactly sure why, but it was a really good line.

My favorite part of the poem was definitely the end, especially the line, "I desperately want things to go my way. / Is that because I’m selfish or afraid? Who’s to say?" It is a really powerful line, and it is a common question that many people ask themselves on a regular basis.

Overall this was a great poem. Good job! If you have time, be sure to check out my poems, "The Flame" and "Midnight". They both play with a darker theme too. Thanks!
