Teacher, five children, they hurt me
They say it’s my fault that I’m black
They said I was wicked, a sin against God
What do I do, fight back?
Daddy, I did what you told me
I told them I’d tell on them soon
But the teachers don’t care that I’m all bruised and hurt
Sometimes they laugh at me too
Mummy, they’re chasing me now
I asked them to stop, but they laughed
They said they would beat, and kill me if I told
So I had to run away fast
Dear God, I know that I’m black
And they say that I shouldn’t talk to you
But no one will listen and I’m scared for my life
If you’re really all loving, help me too
Sister, I guess this is it
They’ve now finally caught up with me
They’re beating me slowly, making every second count
Don’t worry though; soon I’ll be free
Brother, will it hurt much?
I don’t know what it’s like to die
They just ran away with blood on their hands
Soon I’ll be in heaven with you

even though the rhyming pattern was simple, this poem had power. it was beautiful. good, good.
now - in the last two stanzas, why brother and sister? what do they have to do with anything? it was sort of disjointed.
also, it didn't rhyme according to the pattern in the last stanza. WHY? ARG!
hahah sorry.
otherwise, i just really enjoyed the poem.
(i need a new word besides "really" and "very")
racism is a horrible subject, and i'm glad you faced it. sometimes i forget it exists because where i live is pretty good about stuff like that, but then i just need something like this to slap me in the face. thank you.
I can see you're very touchy on the issue of racism. To me it looks like you put a lot of heart into this poem. Keep up the good work.
This poem had a lot of emotion in it. The poem had a voice which made more of an effect on the reader. I'm sure many could relate due to the issue of bullying. Very sad ending, but i really liked the feeling in it.
