A book is just a book, they say.
With words like thou and art and thee,
Just made of paper, wood or clay,
They say this, but I disagree.

A book is like a whole new world,
Where words fly and embrace the mind,
Lines flow like winds to sails unfurled,
Verses set sail through seas of time.

The paragraphs like building blocks,
They’re bricks, once piled, make sturdy homes,
A chapter is like birds which flock,
They’re thoughts which have already flown

A book, compiled of many, all,
Ideas taking many shapes,
Where winds, ships, bricks, and birds, are scrawled,
A book is means of an escape.

How long did you work on this? It has the effortless feel of beautiful poetry, but it's so perfect I could only believe it if you told me you spent hours hammering the kinks out. Seriously, please give me an answers in hours, if not days.

The reason I ask that is because the rest of the poem doesn't quite stand up to the first part. If you could make that flawless jewel, why is the rest second grade? (I mean second grade in respect to the first part, the entire poem deserves to be ranked far above anything else you might call second grade)

I counted syllables (I've too much time) and even though they all match up, these lines still seem awkward.

Where words fly and embrace the mind,

Where winds, ships, bricks, and birds, are scrawled,

Furthermore, 'sail' is repeated here. Maybe you enjoy it, but I dislike repetition unless used very skillfully.

Lines flow like winds to sails unfurled,
Verses set sail through seas of time.

Also 'many' here:

A book, compiled of many, all,
Ideas taking many shapes,

Once again, I love that first part (Stanza? I dunno) and I don't think you should ever change it.

Talk about a mind blown.
You did everything perfectly, from the lack of errors to the beauty of itself. (Oh, look, I'm getting all inspirational here.)
Of us all being writers, what you wrote basically described us all in, what, sixteen lines? The way you framed it all gave off an uplifting tone (there I go again). I especially LOVE (that's L.O.V.E) that in the first stanza you described the difference between a reader and a writer against someone looking from a different point of view.
PUH-LEASE KEEP WRITING THIS AWESOMENESS!!!!

Hey I really liked this :) Although, this part seemed a bit cliche

A book is like a whole new world,
Where words fly and embrace the mind,

I love this. I absolutely love it. You completely embraced what a book is to many people. People who don't understand why people like to read should READ and analyze this. I could go on and on about this piece. I LOVE IT!! :D

I really liked this poem. It held real meaning, and I could feel thatu felt very strongly about the subject. That is one of the most important things in writing. U need to make the reader feel like u care about the subject a lot and that is what u do. This was an amazing poem. The rythme and rhyme fitin with everything so beautifly. I can't even think of anything wrong woth it. It had a good subject tooo. It was amazing and I loved it!

I love this, you've chosen a really interesting topic and interpreted it really well. Well done! The only thing I would point out is the repetition of many in the last stanza, I'm not sure whether you meant to do this or not but I'm not one hundred percent sure it works, but that's just my opinion. Other than that I think it's really good.

Wooooooooooo! ^_^

One of the most enjoyable poems I have read. It's sweet and simple, but very truthful, and beautiful from the beginning to the end.

The only thing I have to tell you is... there shouldn't be a dot in the title. Other than that, Ham, this is maaaaaaarvelous! xD

I hope it gets featured.

Sincerely,
Solly<3

Aww, thank you Gee! I changed the title, so now there's no dot :D Featured? I would much rather your work be featured, but thank you!

Oh my gosh, this is so sweet! It made me smile, and I'm in a rubbish mood, so that in itself is a miracle :P

I love the imagry of the book as a ship, or wind, or house etc., it was a really nice idea very eloquently (is that spelt right?!) put. I particularly liked the third stanza because I think the simile in ther last two lines is a very powerful one, although I love bird/flight imagry in poetry anyway! The last line is very striking, and conveys the overall meaning of the poem. The whole thing flowed very nicely, and your use of punctuation was really good (it always winds me up when people mis-use punctuation in peotry).

I don't really have any criticisms. I thouroughly enjoyed reading this, and I'd like to read more of your writing in the future! :)

Thanks, Anna! I'll try to post up more works for you!

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, it's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities.
