another oldie
Some say I’m
Daddy’s little girl
And they might be right
I’m closer to my dad
Then I could be with anyone else
So on this day
I tip my hat to you, dad
You’re the best father a kid could ask for
You were there when I:
Broke my wrists
Learned how to bike
Went to school for the first time
Needed homework help
Went to camp for the first time and
Sent me funny stories of what you were doing to my room
And so much more
Oh, the memories of
Long summer days
Of splashing in the waves
On crowd-filled beaches
Oh, the memories of
Long winter nights
Where you would tuck me into bed
And sing me to sleep with the
Songs of my ancestors
Some might say I’m
Daddy’s little girl
But here’s a newsflash
I’m not so little anymore
And yeah, I still like my dad
Yes, I still spend time with him
But I’m not so little anymore
And what was, can never be again
What was, are just memories
Of long summer days
And long winter nights

I like it
It's sweet
Hehe I'ma daddy's girl XD
I like the change of tone at the end, it was a nice surprise finish. But this to me reads more like a paragraph than a poem. If it weren't for the line breaks and lack of punctuation I would think it was just that. And the middle stanza there is just a list. Maybe this should be expanded and made into an essay; as a poem, I don't think it does your feelings justice.
