I know neither of us can take anything back.
I know the damage won't fade with the bruises.
I know what was won't be restored.
I know we'll never be the same.
I know the tears won't stop until the clouds clear.
I know forgiveness is the path out.
I know it will be hard.
I know my heart can't take the pain.
I know what I have to do.
But I can hope, can't I?
The flames came in packs. To engulf my life. They burnt it all down.
The tears rolled for hours as I shook uncontrollably. Questions screamed through my head as I curled up in a ball. My breathing began to stagger as panic set in. My stomach churned and throbbed. Slowly, I opened my laptop. I needed to write. That would surely help.
The AIM rectangle popped up and signed me in automatically. Almost immediately, a box sprung up on the screen. "Hey. Wuzzup?"
Tears poured heavily as my words filled the box.
"I feel like I'm drowning." I typed hesitantly.
"Then get out of the water."
More crying erupted.
He hit me. He hit me. He hit me.
Everything replayed in my mind. Tormenting me. Ripping me apart.
He did more...
I bent down over my stomach as it throbbed painfully.
Get out of the water! Get out of the water!
I buried my head into my pillow.
He's my dad. He's my dad. He's my dad.
I punched the wall next to me as hard as possible.
I...Need...Help...

I didn't enter, but thanks for the suggestion.
It means a lot.
Wow, that was touching, you should enter it in
"The Activism Contest"
Check it out, I think you would win for sure!
especially because it was written on personal experience, It was a great post, I'll tell you that. Swim for the shore, get out of the water! I think everyone at YWS is behind you!
Thanks, everyone.
Wow, hope you'll get out of the water as soon as you can.
If you're drowning, and the bank is far away, swim. Even if it's the hardest thing you have to do.
Yep. There's my life for ya.
Getting out of the water turns out to be easier said than done.
Amazing.
Is this what your life is like? If so, then please, 'get out of the water'. Ha.
The Emotion in this is just.. just unmistakable. It almost drove me to tears. But this is just moving. Amazingly. I love it. If you could clap on a comment, I would.
Why do people even abuse their kids? If they wanted them, they should keep them and be at least half-way decent to them!
And if they don't, then put them into foster homes. It helps. At least they are away from the person[s] that are hurting them.
I am still living at home and I'd say I'm pretty half-in-half-out of the water.
This is pretty much my life right now.
Wow, that is a ton of emotion there, this is one of the first times I have felt teary at a piece. And I feel bad if that is/was your life, so I hope you did 'get out of the water'. Nothing there to nitpick at if it was even my place to do so.
Hi,
This is the first time that I've ever cried from reading a story on this site. If this is your real life, I am terribly sorry and hope that you did "get out of the water."
I don't know what to change on this because there is nothing. I know how you must have felt. I myself went through something similar with my sister. Though, I wanted her gone. I needed her gone and I wasn't afraid to tell my mother.
I really hope that you're talking to someone about this. I hope that you're not living at home anymore.
It must be/have been hard.
I wish you all the best. Be strong
Love,
N
That was good. =/ Yeah. TONS of emotion.
Thanks, J. You just showed me what it's like to have the reader feeling it.
