Funeral

Stone cold,
wan skin,
cadaverous and pallid.

Jutting ribs,
ghastly thin.
You were a dead man walking.

Void expression,
no more ideation.
Can one regret what was

not discerned?
Had you always been
crestfallen and forlorn?

Hello there, I'm going to be your reviewer for the moment and I'd like to start out and say that I like the clipped tone to the poem. I like the overall product but there are things that I'd like to point out :

In the first stanza, I believe that you should add something other than just a description of his flesh, of the man's skin and wan appearance.

The second stanza, I like the way you describe his thin form, and his jutting ribs but I don't like how the third line is much longer and takes away from the clipped tone of the poem. It appears as one of those - speed reads (which is when one has to read it quicker than the rest of the poem so that it fits in with the rest). Perhaps if you changed it to something shorter like :
"Jutting ribs,
ghastly thin.
A dead man walks (or : A dead man)" < something short works.

Thirdly, I don't exactly think that ideation is the best of words. I understand what it means but it just seems strange to put it there. However, that may be based merely on opinion rather than necessity.

Another thing that strikes me is that you have one sentence continuing into the next stanza from third to fourth. I believe that you could change that so instead of having it appear as though there should only be three stanzas, you could add something to the last, to make it one and its own. Perhaps rather than asking long questions, you could shorten them into snippets as you did the rest.

Otherwise, I did like the poem. However, there were a few things you could have done to make it better. :) Don't let my words discourage you, though. I like your work and I'll be back for more.

Write on,
Wisp.
