I can hold a grudge

Chapter 1

“But why, mom?” I had been begging my mom to let me stay with my dad since she told me that in three days she was sending me off to live with her best friend Caroline. Two months ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and since then my life has been hell. Not knowing when my mom would be alive and when she would be dead and dealing with my parent’s divorce, and now going to live with my mom’s best friend’s family. That was just the cherry on top to ruining my life.

“Melody, you know why. I can’t take care of you and I don’t trust your dad with you.” She said in a soft voice, the soft voice that had put me to sleep every night since I was a baby. That was I voice I didn’t want to loose, I  didn’t want to move where ever it was my mom wanted me to move, I just wanted to stay with her.

“Please mom I want to stay with you, and only you. I don’t want to live with Caroline and her family. You know I don’t do well with people, you know how shy I am, please, mom.” I begged her with tears running down my face, she looked at me with eyes of sympathy. I know I was being selfish but I couldn’t help it I didn’t want to loose her more than I already was.

“I know sweetheart, but you must remember that I’m doing this for your own good. Please don’t fight and do this for me.” I was shattered on the inside I didn’t know why this was happening or why out of all the people in the world it had to happen to me and  my mom.

I wiped away my tears and sniffed “Okay, mom, I’ll do it for you.” I gave her a weak smile and hugged her for a long time. I inhaled deeply and let out a big sigh, I was really moving to a place where I didn’t even know any one that was what scared me the most, but I was still doing it but only for my mom. When I let her go I asked her a few questions, apparently her friend Caroline lived in Los Angeles, CA. and had some kids but she wouldn’t tell me how many. So I left my mom in her room and went to my own and started to pack I couldn’t believe I was actually moving from my little part of Lancaster, Pennsylvania across the country to the big city of Los Angeles, California. As I put my clothes in my suitcase I saw a picture of my boyfriend, then I realized I was leaving him as well as Lancaster. I told the nurse that if my mom asked to tell her I went out then I grabbed a jacket and walked over to Christian’s house. Whenever I wasn’t with my mom I was with him so I already had a key to his house, so when he didn’t answer I opened I with my key. When he wasn’t in the living room I figured he was In his room, I was about to knock when I heard a girl scream his name “Christian!” when I opened the I found him on his bed on top of some girl whose face was covered. When I saw this I needed to know who was sleeping with my boyfriend, when I heard her say something I was crushed but I needed to know for sure. I walked to the bed and took the sheet off her face and it was who I thought it was, my best friend, Sam. I backed away from then bed slowly and left the house with tears running down my face.

“Melody, please slowdown! Please! Melody!” I heard her scream but I didn’t even think to slowdown, the more she screamed the faster I ran, then soon enough I heard Christian coming after me too. I was a lock a way from home when my asthma started acting up, and I had to stop or else I would have and attack.

“Finally you stopped.” I heard Sam say a minute after I stopped, no sooner Christian caught up with us. “Hey,” he said panting, trying to catch his breath. He also had asthma but his was worse than mine, when I heard it acting up I knew he was having a attack. He put a hand on his chest and started reaching out to us.

“Oh my gosh, do something you’re the asthmatic here too. What should we do?” Luckily I always had our pumps on me, I took out Christians and gave it to him, and he quickly to the right amount of breaths and quickly felt better.

“Christian, are you okay?” I asked, just cause I hated him now didn’t mean that I didn’t care if he was okay or not. Once he got his breathing under control he pulled me into a hug, I didn’t hug back I just stood there plain.

“Thank you, Mel.” He said as he gave me a kiss on the lips, I pushed him away as soon as I felt his lips on mine.

“Just ‘cause I saved your life doesn’t mean I forgive you. How could you do this to me? All I ever did was love you and you do this to me.” After that I turned to, Sam. “And, Sam? How could you? You were my best friend, how?” I looked at both of them and when I realized that neither of them would e answering I ran home. When I got home I immediately shut the door and threw myself on the floor to cry. An hour later my mom’s nurse Rita found me and asked me what happed I told her that I would tell her when I told my mom. So, Rita and I went up to my mom’s room and I told them everything that happened.

“I always knew, Samantha, had a thing for Christian.” Rita said when I finally finished. My mom had been holding my hand the whole time I told the story, she was never judgmental with me.

“Don’t worry Mel bell, it’s his loss.” My mom said as she gently squeezed my hand, I squeezed back. That night I for once in a really long time I went to sleep happy, because in three days I would  finally be able to get a new beginning.

Review

Hello there, my name is Klara and I am here to review your piece today.

My suggestions:
-“But why, mom?”
I had been begging my mom to let me stay with my dad since she told me that in three days she was sending me off to live with her best friend Caroline.

-Two months ago my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, and since then my life has been hell - not knowing when she would be alive and when she would be dead and dealing with my parent’s divorce, and now going to live with my mom’s best friend’s family. That was just the cherry on top to ruining my life.

-“Melody, you know why. I can’t take care of you and I don’t trust your dad”, she said in a soft voice, the one that had put me to sleep every night since I was a baby. That was the voice I didn’t want to lose, I didn’t want to move wherever it was my mom wanted me to move. I just wanted to stay with her.

-“Please mom! I want to stay with you and only you. I don’t want to live with Caroline and her family. You know I don’t do well with people and you know how shy I am. Please, mom”, I begged her with tears running down my face. I know I was being selfish but I couldn’t help it. I didn’t want to loose her more than I already did.

-I was shattered on the inside and I didn’t know why this was happening nor why out of all the people in the world it had to happen to me and my mom.

-I inhaled deeply and let out a big sigh. I realized I was moving to a place where I didn’t know anyone and that was what scared me the most. I was still doing it, but only for my mom.

-(...)few questions. Apparently her friend Caroline lived in Los Angeles, CA.

-So I left my mom in her room and went to my own and started to pack. I couldn’t believe I was actually moving from my little part of Lancaster, Pennsylvania across the country to the big city of Los Angeles, California.

-As I was putting my clothes in my suitcase I saw a picture of my boyfriend, Christian. I realized I was leaving him as well as Lancaster. I told the nurse to tell my mom that I went out, so I grabbed a jacket and walked over to Christian’s house. Whenever I wasn’t with my mom I was with him so I already had a key to his house. I opened the door because he wasn't answering. He wasn’t in the living room so I figured he was in his room. I was about to knock when I heard a girl scream his name. I walked to the bed and took the sheet off her face and it was who I thought it was - my best friend, Sam. I backed away from the bed slowly and left the house with tears running down my face.

-(...)an attack.

-I'm not sure I understand this part: Luckily I always had our pumps on me, I took out Christians and gave it to him, and he quickly to the right amount of breaths and quickly felt better.

-“Just ‘cause I saved your life doesn’t mean I forgive you. How could you do this to me? All I ever did was loving you.” After that I turned to Sam. “And, Sam? How could you? You were my best friend. How?” I looked at both of them and when I realized that neither of them would be answering I ran home. When I got home I immediately shut the door and threw myself on the floor to cry. “Don’t worry Mel Bell, it’s his loss”, mom said as she gently squeezed my hand. I squeezed back. That night I went to sleep happy, because in three days I would finally be able to get a new beginning.

It has a potential, but it needs a lot of work.
Keep writing,
Klara

Some people are hourglass shaped, some people are apple shaped, some people are pear shaped, some people are even bean pole shaped, but if we’re not careful we all become banana shaped. This is your gentle posture reminder.
