My Hero

                                                                            My Hero

“Those who say that we’re in a time when there are no heroes; they just don’t know where to look,” said Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States of America. Not all heroes have a cape and save the world because they can be people who inspire us in our daily life. A hero is a person of notable courage or capability, respected for his brave deeds and honorable qualities. My hero is Mario, someone I know and talk to every single day of my life.  He gives my family the opportunity to live here in America. Three traits that I see in him are the following: sacrifice, helpfulness and intellect.

Heroes sacrifice their life, energy, time, leisure and happiness. It is their passion to deprive self just to make others safe, peaceful and happy. I remember once during first grade, I was having a problem with my assignment and was going to ask Mario to help me solve a particular math problem. I saw him in the other room; he seemed really serious in what he was doing. I knocked on the door and he asked, “Do you need something?” After I talked about my problem he jumped in and helped me solve it. Though he was really busy he still sacrificed his time to help and spent time with me.

Heroes want to aid those in desperate need and act beyond their capacity. When someone needed his assistance he was always there to help. Back in the Philippines Mario was practicing his profession as a medical doctor.  One time when he was on duty a nine-year-old boy was rushed to the emergency room because he was working in the factory where he accidentally cut his right hand in half. Since his family was really poor they couldn’t afford to buy medicine or go to a surgeon. So Mario gave this boy’s mother some money to afford medical service, and operated the boy’s hand instead of a specialist in surgery. He was not thinking of himself and wanted to help. He was really sensitive for the need of others.

                  A hero might be a person who uses his intelligence just as a warrior uses his spear. My hero uses his intellect to solve difficult problems. During a Christmas vacation in Washington State, my cousin and I were playing with some toys and a camera in the bathroom. I was being tempted to put the camera under the water though I was against the thought I still did it. As a result the camera got broken, I went to Mario and asked him to fix it. He started inquiring about what really happened. I told him a different story because I was scared that I might be punished. He thought of a way to figure out what the real story was by getting the SD card of the camera and dried it by a hair blower to see if the videos and pictures were still there. He found the video and saw what really happened.  Instead of harsh punishment he talked to me and said that being dishonest never pays and to influence others with goodness.

                  He may not be a celebrity, an astronaut or an athlete; he is a simple person. Yet he has the most bearing effect on me. He sacrifices for others, is helpful specially when I need him the most and is very smart.  He taught me the important virtues of life; to be truthful, caring and helpful to others. I may be taking away much of his time, but for him it doesn’t matter because he is happier in giving time for my mom and me. However hard the situation may be he continuously finds a way to make it better. That’s why I am proud enough to call him my hero; my dad.

Hey Reve!

I haven't been reviewing much lately (school, ack!), and now I see that this work has been sitting here for a month without getting any reviews. Not sure if this is for school or a scholarship, or...what...or if the due date has already passed. Probably has, but on the off-chance that a review could still be useful, I'm going to provide you with on. :D

Starting...now...

Not all heroes have a cape and save the world because they can be people who inspire us in our daily life.
~ 'because they' isn't a very clear contrast. Perhaps you could edit for "Not all heroes have a cape and save the world, some are the people who inspire us in our daily lives.", also, since you made it plural with 'our' it should be lives, not life.

Three traits that I see in him are the following: sacrifice, helpfulness and intellect.
~ This is a bit...I'm not sure what to call it. It would flow better if you wrote: "The traits that I admire in him is his sacrifice, willingness to help people, and intellegence." -- I'm a supporter of the Oxford comma, but it's perfectly alright to omit the second comma I put in my example.

Heroes sacrifice their life, energy, time, leisure and happiness. It is their passion to deprive self
~ Again you start off with with plural 'heroes', so it should be 'lives', and 'self' should be 'themselves'.

I saw him in the other room; he seemed really serious in what he was doing. I knocked on the door and he asked, “Do you need something?” After I talked about my problem he jumped in and helped me solve it. Though he was really busy he still sacrificed his time to help and spent time with me.
~ This is a really sweet thought, but you can make it more conscise. "I saw him in the other room, and he seemed really focused on what he was doing, but I knocked anyway- after I told him my problem, he eagerly helped me solve it." Or something like that, also, 'spent' should be 'spend'.

medical doctor.
~ Completely your choice, but people assume 'medical' when they read 'doctor', so it's not necessary to specify that, unless you just want to. :)

I was being tempted to put the camera under the water though I was against the thought I still did it. As a result the camera got broken, I went to Mario and asked him to fix it. He started inquiring about what really happened.
~ This is really...forced, it seems...'I was being tempted' doesn't sound like a natural thing to say.

"My cousin kept trying to convince me to put the camera in the toliet (in the bathtub, in the sink? Not under the water...), and though I didn't think it was a good idea, I eventually gave in to the pressure. As a result the camera got broken, so I went to Mario and asked him to fix it. He asked me what happened, and being scared that I might be punished, I lied." Or something. Just more concise.

...is helpful specially when I need him the most..
~ 'especially', not 'specially'.

giving time for my mom and me.
~ My mom and I, not my mom and me.

~~~
Oh my gosh! This is SO sweet! I actually wrote a poem about my own dad (my hero).
^-^
This is awesome Reve!
Keep writing!
