She Isn't Normal and Never Will Be
Born into a family with beliefs so strong that any opposition was frowned upon, her life was fixed in place. Growing up she had to conform to her ideological parents sense of normality, sometimes with extreme difficulty. She was never to be normal, never to fit into this squeaky clean image of perfection. She was a short girl who lacked any feminine features. She instead of chasing boys dressed like them. She had dirty blonde hair slicked back by layers of gel, highlighting her burly face. Her name was Mary Anne. She hated the name, every time she was referred to with it her skin would crawl.
Mary Anne always had difficulties growing up. Her mother and father wanted a pretty pink princess who would bear them a heir to the kingdom of their stuck up of minds. They did not want a burly looking girl who enjoyed the company of women. Mary Anne was a disappointment to them. She wasn't pretty, she wasn't pink, she would never touch a boy or get close enough to make a child. She was, to herself, normal.
At home Mary Anne suffered greatly at the piercing gaze of judgement from her parents. Some of us wouldn't even be able to bear this form of torture. However Mary Anne actually felt safe at home, for at school the gates of hell would let out demons that would ruin her life.
"Dyke!" "Oi, Lesbian! Where did you get your hoodie, the little boys section?" She walked through the school halls under constant artillery from the army of insults raging an endless war in her path. She suffered in silence for years, the insults turning into an endless flurry of hate. She never felt secure in her own skin, she never felt like she fit in. She was a candle in a dark room, her light flickering and drawing the attention of many fluttering moths. All wanting to see the light, before they put it out.
Mary Anne's light flickered and dimmed for years, her glimmer of happiness always under siege from the army of hate and their poisonous creatures. Mary Anne was a strong girl, a tom boy. She never felt normal. She never felt secure. Her mind was filled with a never ending echo of insults, her sight blurred by droplets of water.
She was walking home after a hard day at school when a group of bickering girls followed behind her. She was hit with insults, as hard as piercing stones. She closed her eyes and she listened to a voice within her head, a voice that told her that she was not good enough, that she was never going to be loved. She felt as though the girls behind her were wise prophets, speaking the truth. She took a small step out on to the road and she opened her eyes. A Bright light filled her tear filled vision and she fell to the floor, the iron monster stomping out the light within her.
Her name was Mary Anne, she was a short girl with a burly face and dirty blonde hair. She never conformed to societies crushing sense of normality. She never felt happy with herself and she never felt loved. Mary Anne was killed one day while walking home, she stepped out onto the road not seeing the speeding car that came at her. May we never forget her.
Footnote: Bullying is something that has affected me quite significantly throughout my high school career and I just wanted to write a story to hep me release some of the anguish it has caused me. This story is complete fiction, No one was hit by a car in the writing of this piece. I apologise for any grammatical errors in advance.

the way you write the story. it's kind of impersonal, distant and straight forward. I really like that, you don't over dramatize every thing. you just tell it like it is and I really like that.
I find that when people write like that they really care.
or not. I don't know. But I think so.
great story!

Thank you for your review <3
I hope you understand, I wrote this after we spent the whole day talking about bullying in class. I am not sad, not depressed and I do not require therapy. I can create effective images through writing, but I dont need therapy. I hope you understand that I do have happy pieces of work, some I want to publish But I cant as I dont have the points. But thank you for your review, it was really nice of you. <3
This was a good story though!
Stories of this topic always give me the chills. I have a ton of friends who are gay, and I can't imagine how living with parents who are so opposed to it must feel like. My heart goes out to this poor girl.
Otherwise, I did find some edits that you have to make:
"Growing up, she had to conform..."
"Instead of chasing boys, she dressed like them."
"She hated the name. Every time she was referred to with it, her skin would crawl."
"Mary Anne always had difficulties growing up." You already said this in the first paragraph, so it seems pretty redundant to me. Try changing it or just getting rid of that sentence.
"pretty, pink princess who would bear them an heir to the kingdom of their stuck up minds. They did not want a burly-looking girl who enjoyed the company of women."
"She wasn't pretty, she wasn't pink, and she would never touch a boy or get close enough to make a child."
"She was, to herself, normal." I'm confused with this line. I think you meant, she wasn't, but I don't know what you were trying to say.
"At home, Mary Anne suffered greatly..."
"However, Mary Anne actually felt safe at home, for at school, the gates of hell would let out..."
"Where did you get your hoodie? The little boys section?"
"She took a small step out onto the road, and opened her eyes. A bright light filled her tear filled vision, and she fell to the floor, the iron monster..."
"She never felt happy with herself, and she never felt loved. Mary Anne was killed one day while walking home. She stepped out onto the road, not seeing the speeding car that came at her."
Hi there
I'm here for a review.
First of all, well done! It's an amazing piece. The story is quite dramatic, yet very realistic and I feel that some people can relate well. Your vocabulary is indeed powerful. You have managed to be descriptive, but it's not overpowering or forced. The story has a good flow, and the spaces join one aspect to the next, making your short story easy to read.I haven't seen any spelling errors, and I think the punctuation is fine too.
I did come across two things that might need a change. They aren't anything major !
"She instead of chasing boys..." should be changed to "Instead of chasing boys, she.."
This might help the sentence sound a bit better.
"A Bright light filled her tear filled vision.." this doesn't sound right. Firstly, make the letter 'b' from the word "Bright" a small letter. Also, you have used 'filled' twice in this sentence. Maybe you should find another word instead of using 'filled' more than once ?
That's all the mistakes I can find really!
Congrats on such a lovely piece! It's truly touching and thoughtful. You have a wonderful, poetic almost, flow which I really enjoy reading through. I look forward to hearing from you if you are to publish more short stories. Your work sure deserves a like !
Until next time !
