Best Friends?

by edders05

Best Friends?

You say you’re my friend,
You say you’re my pal,
But then you ran away,
When I needed you most.

Where did you go?
Why; for whom?
You said you’d never leave me,
Then you stabbed me in the back.

I cry every night now,
Silently, into my pillow,
And I try to say it wasn’t your fault,
But it doesn’t help at all.

You betrayed me,
You hurt me so much,
And then you just left me,
And now I’m in the lurch.

You’ve done everything you can to me,
You’ve lied, you’ve hurt, you’ve stolen,
And yet, even though you’re so bad,
I’ll always forgive you, every time.

Ha, I was thinking about a dog as well.
It was really sweet nd I liked it except for the last two stanzas...seemed to die down a little. But overall, a good little poem for a thirteen year old.

Maybe it's your icon or something in between the lines (or both), but I got the feeling that this was about a dog. That's the first impression I got, but as the poem continued on, it kinda dwindled off. Then the last two lines really reinforced it for me:

"And yet, even though you’re so bad,
I’ll always forgive you, every time."

Those two lines really made it sound like you're talking about a dog.

All in all, I liked it. It's melodramatic, but it's good all the same.
