Chapter Fourteen
My First Visitor
Cold sweat poured down my neck as I recognized the voice. My grip on Kristie’s hand grew tighter and tighter, like if I squeezed hard enough, the person who haunted me would leave. I closed my eyes wishing this was all a dream. I cried out in my brain for someone to save me as images from The Night filled my vision. The musty smell of the woods. The pain of his braces against my lips. The feeling of the bark pushing into my skin.
“Ouch! Isabelle,” she yelped like a whiny five year old, “you’re hurting me!” I immediately released her hand and tensed my shoulders. I returned to the shelter. I still would not turn and greet my visitor. “Isabelle? Are you okay?” she asked, her fury being replaced by worry. She was still cradling her sore hand. I didn’t answer and Anya snapped her fingers in my face.
“New Chick! Snap out of it!” Even in my state I noticed that she still didn’t call me Isabelle. I shivered and blinked. A breathy laugh erupted from behind. I finally turned and faced my visitor.
Carl was leaning against the archway, his arms folded across his flabby chest. One eyebrow was raised and his chapped lips were spread in a smile. I rose from the couch, stealing Kristie’s sweatshirt and shoving it over my head. I covered my low-cut shirt and left the hood around my head.
“Hey!” Kristie whined. I didn’t pay any attention to her.
“Hello, Isabelle,” Carl said, trying to make his voice sultry.
“Hi,” I breathed. My eyes were wide open in shock.
“What’s up with Isabelle?” I heard Kristie whisper to Anya. “Is that her boyfriend?” I shuddered at the question.
“No way. New Chick’s way too superficial to go out with him,” Anya replied, with more volume.
“Aren’t you going to introduce me to your friends?” Carl asked with a crooked smile, an obvious attempt at being alluring. I blinked.
“Right. Sorry.” I turned my head to Anya and Kristie. Kristie’s face was filled with alarm, Anya’s was too, but her face held a bit of amusement. “Carl, this is Anya and Kristie. Anya, Kristie, this is my cousin, Carl.”
“Hey,” he said, thrusting his hand out. His fingers were shaped in a gun formation and he raised one eyebrow, making an odd clicking sound with his tongue. “Do you mind if I steal Isabelle for a little while?” I stopped breathing.
You’re overreacting, I told myself. He’s already gotten you pregnant, what else can he do? I quivered at the thought.
“Why are you asking us?” Anya asked. “Isabelle’s a big girl; I think she can make her own decisions.” The amusement drained from her face.
“Okay then. Isabelle, come with me,” he motioned to me with a chubby finger. I had planned to stay put, but my feet apparently had made another choice. I started walking toward him, like the little fool I was.
I sat at one of the vacant tables in the far corner of the room. We were out of ear shot, but Anya and Kristie could still see us. Kristie kept glancing over and Anya just glared at Carl. I gave her a thankful smile.
“So, it is true,” Carl said when he sat down. Of course, he chose the chair directly next to me.
“What’s true?” I asked.
“You’re pregnant,” he said, sounding a little smug. I couldn’t tell if it was because he knew he had had a part in it, or if he just liked being correct.
“No duh, Carl,” I grumbled. “How did you figure out I was here?”
“One of your friends told me,” he shrugged. My nostrils flared. Which one of my friends would betray my trust like that?
“Which one?” I growled, surprised at how ferocious my voice sounded.
“You know I can’t really remember her name,” he furrowed his brow in mock thought. “She has brown hair, a big nose, kind of short?” he had a smirk on his face, obviously amused at my anger.
“Sylvia? Sylvia told you?” I nearly shouted. I cursed her under my breath. Sylvia wasn’t really my great friend; she was just basically a friend of a friend, who sat with us because we felt bad for her. She wasn’t the prettiest in our group and I rarely hung out with her. “Why would she do that?”
“I flirted with her, and she eventually succumbed to my awesome persuasiveness,” he said cracking his knuckles. Before I could stop my self, I burst out laughing. I knew Sylvia was desperate, but I didn’t think that desperate.
“You flirted with her?” I incredulously asked when I composed myself.
“Yeah, but don’t get jealous, you’re still my favorite,” he said, reaching up to stroke my face. He smiled once his clammy fingers touched my cold cheek. “I was talking to Peter,” he said. My eyes grew wide and my heart skipped a beat. “And he said something about your current condition.”
He paused, playing with the look on my face, his hand now cupping my chin.
“And that would be?” I asked; my voice thick with annoyance.
“He said it was his baby.” He dropped his hand.
“WHAT?” I yelled. Everyone in the room turned their heads towards me. “You’re lying,” I said quietly.
“Nope,” he said, popping the P. I stayed quiet, my face growing red with anger.
“I had a question, though,” he said. The grin vanished from his face. “Whose baby is it? I don’t really believe Peter; he has a knack for exaggerating.”
“Like you don’t know,” I spat back.
“Oh come on Isabelle, you aren’t seriously referring to that night we spent together?” without saying it, we both knew exactly what night he was referring to. I winced. He made it sound like I wanted it to happen.
I didn’t reply.
“Because you and I both know nothing happened. You’re pregnant with some other guy’s baby.”
“I find that impossible.”
“Don’t lie, Isabelle. I know I wasn’t your first,” he said, putting his hand on my thigh.
“Sure you weren’t. But the others were so long ago that it would have affected me…” my voice trailed as his hand moved to my inner thigh and traveled up. I smacked his hand away.
“Don’t pretend like you didn’t like it, like you don’t crave it now,” he said, leaning his head toward my neck. I jumped up.
“Get out,” I hissed.
“What?”
“Get out,” I repeated.
“All right, I’ll leave now, but I’ll be back. You’ll be thinking about me tonight, and you’ll know it isn’t mine.” He grinned that cruel grin. He put his hand on my face again, “God, you’re so beautiful.”
“GET OUT!” I screamed. Anya jumped up from her seat and ran over to me, Kristie, on the other hand, because of the size of her stomach, was only able to get up slowly and waddle over to me.
“I don’t know who you are or what you did to Isabelle but you better get the hell out of here before I rip out your manhood,” Anya growled. It was the first time she called me Isabelle since the first day I had come here.
“I wouldn’t mind if you touched there,” he said with a smirk. Anya stuck her tongue in front of her teeth, so we could see the underside, and punched Carl in the face.
“Get the hell out of here, you little pervert!” she screamed. He ran out holding his jaw.

After a long wait I see the next Chapter of All Babies are Blessings has been revealed. Amazing as were the other 13 chapters. I liked it a lot and the beginning was very suspenseful. However I would love to see more of the exchange that goes on between Carl and Isabelle (maybe for my own selfish reasons so I can keep reading.) I was elated to see Isabelle actually do something and the complexity of her character really comes out in this chapter. You also get too see a little more of Anya that really makes you take a second look at her as a character. Also as the others have already said if there is a way to but a little more edge, a little more pull into the last bit it would make it that much harder to wait for Chapter 15. I LOVED it just as much as the others if not more.
Hello,
! I couldn't find anything wrong with spelling or grammar but...
Long time no see... well read. This is a really good chapter, I wished it could have been longer! I loved the little suspense in the beginning as the visitor was revealed
this kind of confused me a little. I just might be how I am reading it.
I love Anya's character! when she punched Carl a small voice in side me screamed "YES!!"
Please keep writing, the little voice needs more!
And please just put a character in who really rips out Carl's manhood
PM me if you need anything!

Wow, girl. Simply wow I love it!
I wasn't actually expecting Carl to be the visitor. But it still works. I'm sorry I didn't read it ASAP I have a hell job right now ughhh. Anyways this was freakn awesome!
I think this was the best chapter yet. Although you might want to make it more of a cliff hanger at the ends with something like...
'Carl glared at Anya and rubbed his jaw.
"You'll pay for that... Or maybe I liked it."
Anya just stared her face twisting in discust.
"Pervert... Just get out before I call security on your sorry ass."
I'm not sure something along the lines of that
I love it, good luck, notify me when the next chapter is up!
lots of love
