The Truth

PreviousNext

Forever we go all the way,

Down this path of hope.

We know it’s all too well

Until you hold it close.

No, don’t step near,

They only say it but it’s not too bad,

To have a little fear,

A fear to lose yourself.

‘Cause in the end

The only one you can trust is you.

‘Cause in the end

All the red fades into blue.

‘Cause in the end

The lines blur and you don’t know what to do.

My dear, it’s only the bitter truth.

Forever we go all the way,

Searching the one to know,

All your good and bad,

You want them, you let them close.

No, don’t let them near,

They only say it but it’s not too bad,

To have a little fear,

A fear to lose all you have.

 ‘Cause in the end

The only one you can trust is you.

‘Cause in the end

All the red fades into blue.

‘Cause in the end

The lines blur and you don’t know what to do.

My dear, it’s only the bitter truth.

Baby steps every day

Remember, here nothing stays

Everybody lies

People change.

‘Cause in the end

The only one you can trust is you.

‘Cause in the end

All the red fades into blue.

‘Cause in the end

The lines blur and you don’t know what to do.

My dear, it’s only the bitter truth.

Hello, cavalin!

The rhythm of this is great, everything flows really nicely so I can imagine some lyrics being put with this too. I like the chorus part, and the red/blue imagery was actually really cool, it fits in with the song nicely.

As for suggestions, I thought this was quite vague. Were you thinking about something in particular when you wrote this? Because right now it doesn't feel like you did. Obviously, it 's totally up to you how much you decide to include in a song, but because it's so vague I was a bit lost as to what it was talking about.

The direct narrative in the chorus parts are really good I think because it makes it directed at everyone. I thought though that the chorus was a bit confusing, because at first it's like 'the only one you can trust is you' but then it's like 'the lines blur and you don't know what to do'. I get what you're trying to say, but when you say the lines blur are you talking about being drunk? crying? I think that the chorus is fine, but sort of the ideas of the chorus could be mentioned in other parts of the song, if that makes sense!

Finally, I thought that there could be some more imagery because the chorus has some nice imagery, but the verses don't really add up. And this kind of links to my point about it feeling quite vague. Throw in some metaphors and similes, it'd make it a lot more interesting to read.

Overall though, I really like this. I find lyrics in the second person can feel quite awkward as they're clearly directed at one person only, however these are different as they could be directed at anyone. I think all this needs now is some more imagery to build up the message a bit more. I hope this helps, feel free to ask me any questions or if you'd like another review on anything. Keep writing,

Hey there! Just thought I'd stop by for a review!

So, I won't take too long to tell you, that I really enjoyed reading this. I started almost 'singing' it in my head. I can really imagine a tune for it, and that's always a good thing for lyrics! The structure and grammar is very good. The words are meaningful, and it doesn't sound like you used 'filler words' which I see far to often in any kind of writing.

The lines blur and you don’t know what to do.
My dear, it’s only the bitter truth.

... By far my favorite lines.

Anyhow, Like i said, I didn't take too long to tell you that i liked these lyrics very much :) You are obviously talented, and have a way with words! Very well-written :)

Keep writing,

~Nora

Thanks a ton, Nora :)

My spelling is wobbly. It's good spelling, but it wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places.
