New Discoverys Chapter 2

Hey so here's chapter 2 of my first novel I did my best to add in the critiques that I was given, so tell me what you think.

- Bumblebee

Lex waited until this guy, Asher, was out in the water to set her things up. She was baffled, having one of those, wait what just happened here moments, thinking as she stared in to space, why would this stranger help me out? I didn’t need it, I had it handled. Lex decides to put these racing thoughts aside for the moment, she could care less. Clearing her mind, closing her eyes, taking several deep cleansing breaths, she focused on her subject, the seagull waddling on the sand.

Asher sat on his board, waiting for the wave to roll close enough to catch it. Once he was on the wave, feeling the rush he loved oh so much, that girls face flashed in his mind, with dark intense violet eyes, causing him to lose focus and control, being over powered by the wave and swept under by the raging ocean, after being worked more than once, he decided, to head in for the moment.

Not liking how her picture was turning out, Lex looked up out of frustration she sees Asher walking in her general direction. Their eyes met, oh know he is going to talk to me, I don’t want to talk, oh it to late.

“Hey” he greeted her

“Hello again” she said with fake cheer

Going around her so he could see her painting he said “whoa that’s really good”

“Um thanks” she replied back obviously determined to hold a conversation Asher went on “were did you learn to do that”

“Art Classes and a lot of practice” thinking, Duh, she sat down in the sand squishing her toes into the sand. He sat across from her. The first question she could think of had an obvious answer, but she asked it anyway, “so you like to surf?”

“Yeah he said but I like music more.”

Hey this guy can’t be all bad came across her mind. “so a musician huh, let me guess you play guitar?”

“Psh, not even close” obviously he was enjoying this, “Guess again”

“Uhhhh… drums” she stated not really sure

“No way, to loud, try again” Asher said wile laughing

“I give up” She said while throwing her hands up and falling on her back in the sand

“Oh come on” he said

She sat up and gave him a look of confusion because she hadn’t the slights idea. “OK,OK, I play the piano” he finally said

“The piano, what, you come across as more of a guitar guy.” She said, as she leaned back on her arms.

“nope” ,he said grinning, “my mom always said, If you want to play anything piano is the gateway to all instruments.” Asher said in a mockingly high pitched voice.

Now they were both laughing, until they heard the obnoxious beeping coming from Lex’s back pocket. Groaning she pulled it out mouthing sorry to Asher she answered it .

“Yes” she said in an irritated voice

“Are you at the beach again” came the all too familiar nasally voice of her aunt.

“Yeah” she said

“We talked about this, you can’t just go sneaking out of the house” spoke her aunt in her usual controlling voice.

“OK” Lex said rolling her eyes

“You are coming home now” Her aunt demanded

“Fine’ she said and hung up. She always hated staying with her aunt she acted like she was her mom, she wasn’t, Lex resented her parents for just leaving her with them. She turned to Asher “I have to go” Lex said in a small apologetic voice.

“let me give you a ride”

“no-no, I couldn’t I’m fine”

“No, I insist” he said

“Oh-OK”

“Alrighty then,” he said, putting his board under one arm and her easel under the other. She followed with the rest of her things to his jeep.
