I Know She Won't Return

by bookishcabin

The tolled bells made my ears bleed.

A spirit like mine,

I shall neglect the constant future woes;

As our souls dance they align.

We sat together on the rug,

Her spirit like mine

Little specks found in her fur,

The ones who don't understand,

Want to draw a line.

We walked along the rocky shore;

They wrapped her neck in a vine,

I heard the days swimming close—

Only nine.

Luna brings me a moon,

It always has a yellow sign,

Turn the strings, release the vine,

“Three more days ‘til sunshine.”

The night had come,

Beasts became divine.

Stipped away, memories dead.

Should I have wasted time?

Today I can’t recall all we shared.

Cones keep me from the bitter pine,

I am grateful for the lessons learnt,

No excuses for the crime.

Hey, here for a review!!

It is a little confusing, but I'm not saying it's a bad thing necessarily. I think the chaotic fast pace way this moves, intentional or not was actually fitting. It portrayed the fact that you only had the puppy for a short amount of time. To me, it kinda felt like your mind in the situation, if that makes sense.

Hope this helps even if it was obvious. :)

*Sigh.* I had a puppy once, for about a week. She was brown. My dad made us get rid of her because he said that the neighbors said she was looking hungrily at their chickens. It's a cruel, cruel, world for little puppies like them.

On a lighter note, It's a nice poem. From the poem, was your puppy named Luna? Mine was named Cocoa.

I connected with your poem, it was sweet and sorrowful. Thank You!

Follow your heart and nothing can go wrong. (Concerning writing)
