Prompt: Write a story in which someone says “You'll never be content.”

Blue didn't do his homework. It was 3 AM. Why was he up so late?

It was his roommate, perhaps. That awful Red dude bothered him. Even though his roommate would flip through porn magazines and drink a thousand beer cans, Blue knew he was smart. Blue failed in class. He was 18, so why bother?

He spent the whole night locked in his small bedroom, playing an old video game that his dad paid all the money for. He pressed his hands on the buttons of the janky controller, placing a firm grip on it when he hit a curveball. As he reached the end of the level, he heard a knock on the door. Who was it? This had to be obvious.

“LET ME IN!” A raspy voice yelled behind the door.

“Ughhhh, stop yelling at me. I'm in the middle of something.” Blue didn't want to hear him again.

“Seriously, Blue.” Red yanked the door, his voice shrieking to a halt. “I must tell you something.”

Blue paused the game and removed his headset. This was gonna suck.

He opened the door, hoping Red wouldn’t get caught. Red burst through, stripped down to a thong and baseball cap. He never wore a shirt, even when it was cold out.

Red immediately jumped onto Blue’s bed, his neatly folded sheets already ruined with the amount of sticky pizza grease Red had from sleeping next to him every night. If he slept at all, which Red rarely did.

“Heyyyy Blue! Let’s make out with each other.”

“Oh. You’re doing THAT again?” Blue walked near his roommate, noticing the dirt near his mattress. “You’ve told me that several times. And every time I said no.”

“But there’s something even more interesting.” Red banged his tall, scrawny body against the smelly blankets. “We should make babies together.”

“What the hell did you say?!” Blue leaned hunchback over his roommate’s shoulder, his long and fiery hair blocking the path. “You can’t go around telling me stupid shit like that. If you say you’ll frick me one more time, I’ll beat the crap out of you.”

“WHAAT!! Are you crazy, girl?!”

The young bluish man kicked off his sneakers and lay flat on the bed, next to Red’s unwashed body. “It doesn’t matter. You boast about your good looks, but you haven’t showered in MONTHS. Sure, you get the girls, but you don’t know anyone. Except me and your band. And stop saying I’m. A. Freaking. GIRL!!”

Red placed an arm around his roommate’s shoulder, as if they made love rather than coping with each other. “Nah, I make shit up. It’s because I love you.”

“Seriously?! Do you love me? You’ll never be content. It’s like you don’t care about me.”

Red hugged his roommate, not caring about his personal boundaries. He snuggled his greasy legs in a fetal position. “I DO care about you. I wanna have fun.”

“What do you call fun?” Blue responded in a deadpan voice.

“You know. Fuckin’, screwin’, partyin’, and gettin’ drunk. All that jazz.”

“Whatever.” Blue sighed.

Hi there! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today!

I find that I enjoy this method! Maybe it will help me write more reviews!

Top Graham Cracker - First impressions I was taken aback when Red came into the picture asking very Intimate favors. I did not expect that at all, however I enjoyed the short story regardless. I was a bit goofy and upbeat, honestly never a dull moment. The writing prompt "Never be content" interested me a lot because for me at least, I had to really read into this to understand the relation. Red has this really aggressive and physical, almost playful behavior towards his roommate (btw, Red honestly sounds disgusting, I don't know how Blue can stay with him...) that contrasts with Blue's almost down to earth attitude and personality. Blue just wants to game an vibe out. But what I notice is that Blue doesn't stop Red, it seems that Blue is entertaining Red, revealing this more under the rug love for Red despite what Blue says about Red.

I find that the prompt relates to the story in that, Red will never be satisfied with Blue. Because loving him means to also chill out and let him be instead of annoying him like the story portrays. Which I find very interesting and maybe im looking too deep into it but its very compelling!

Slightly Burnt Marshmallow - Hmm, I mean I don't particularly enjoy how fragmented and so all over the place it is.

Chocolate Bar - Just as Creeperfeverdreams said, that juxtaposition between Red and Blue is amazing. That is the chocolate here! That heart to heart they have really hit me in a good way!

Closing Graham Cracker - Overall, I enjoyed this small chaotic story about two roommates. I can tell Blue likes Red because why else would he keep a roommate who hasnt bathed in....MONTHS!?

Hello there, human! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today!

Shalt we commence with the jinxed S’more?

Top Graham Cracker - Blue is just trying to enjoy his time playing video games, but when Red comes and intrudes on his space, Blue finds that he cannot enjoy himself, as always. If he even was happy in the first place, that is.

Slightly Burnt Marshmallow - I have no recommendations to make as of right now, but if you would like to edit this, then you may.

Chocolate Bar - I love the juxtaposition between Blue and Red’s personalities, with Red being more of the “humorous” type than Blue. I feel like Red might genuinely love Blue but doesn’t have a good way of showing it and as for Blue? I think he just wants to be detached from life, because he’s sick of everything, especially the way Red acts around him. But, those are just my theories.

Closing Graham Cracker - Overall, a sad and slightly sweet short story. I enjoyed reading this and if you ever make more fanfics with these characters, then I’ll be sure to read it. I now wish you…

A magnificent day/night! ^v^
