ABBEY ROAD
Coming home along the Abbey Road
Reading newspapers from moving cars
Ten thousand holes stood weeping silently
on the corners of your streets.
Coming home along the Abbey Road
Universe flows through a paper cup
Tell your fools to see the world
like everybody else does
I'm still here, but there's nothing to imagine anymore,
I'm not living for the benefit of kites and angels, no.
Coming home along the Abbey Road
Giving timing to the holy ghost
Comfort the Nowhere Man
He's inconsolable,
Heroes, heroes,
heroes, heroes,
heroes, heroes, Abbey Road.
Goodnight John.

Beatles,
Beatles,
Beatles.
Best band ever--
not too good song.
Sorry.
Cheers, m'dear, these lyrics have been buried for quite some time
I'd completely forgotten about them, truth be told; I should dig them out and finish that music, really.
This was a very impacting "poem" that I found very intriguing to read. The artistic flair of yours is very evident iin this work
Nice lyrics. I'll keep an eye out for the song if you'll post it. I'd like to hear it.
As a big Beatles fan, anything with a Beatles reference catches my eye. This caught my eye a lot. Maybe too much. This really does have a later-Beatles feel to it, and at least the lyrics sound like something John might have written as an experiment.
Very sad, nicely done.
This was very good. It was very descriptive, and yes, I agree it was sad. It probably flows better with the music. Well done.

hmm... i wonder why...
woo that's the name of my road good lyric i really like this line Coming home along the Abbey Road
Universe flows through a paper cup
Tell your fools to see the world
like everybody else does thats wicked
Ah
it's the Beatles' old recording studios, which is where it comes from, though I think there's actually a street near me called that as well.
this is great. i find it quite hard to crit lyrics though when you can't hear the music, but i get the general idea.
this is my favourite part:
Tell your fools to see the world
like everybody else does
btw did you know the title is the same as the name of my street?
Both together - found a basic chord pattern, started figuring out words to go along with it, and both worked their way up slowly.
The music makes all the different, really; it is hard to see how it fits without hearing it.
Did you write the music before the lyrics or vice-versa?
The lyrics don't seem to have much of a flow, but maybe when you have it all recorded it'll sound better— more connected like.
As for the subject matter: "To: John" songs kind of bug me.
I mean the music I wrote for it.
After all, it wouldn't sound quite right set to Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows would it?
And thanks, Shriek
Maybe when I'm finished recording it, I'll post up a copy.
Whoa, brilliance. Loved all the references to different songs, although I doubt I caught them all.
I was listening to "Across the Universe" when I clicked the link, which isn't really all that interesting to note, but I thought I would anyway.
You mean the music you wrote to this, or all the song titles you've lifted to make this?
*sighs* I heard the news today, oh boy...
This is true.
So's Hallelujah, for example. Doesn't stop it being good
EDIT: and you think the lyrics are depressing, you should hear the music....
This is depressing.
DEPRESSING!
