The River

Today was the first day, in fifteen years, that I set my foot through that front door again. I took my shoes off, they were muddy from the rain and dirt outside. My Grandmother hated shoes in the house especially dirty muddy shoes.

Oh how i wished, She was here today, giving me her famous hot chocolate, Granny's tasted like a warm cup of chocolate heaven, from the first sip to the last drop. And compared to the one that Charlie would make, just the thought of hers made my skin crawl, hers tasted like burnt boiled water, with a generous proportion of sugar.

I heard my name, so i followed the direction of the voice, which sound like it was coming from the backyard. So I followed to see what all the commotion was about. It was Charlie , whom was my best friend since, well since i can remember. I was always quite fond of her natural beauty, like her silky blond natural curls (which she hated of course), her baby blue eyes and let's not forget her slight dimples.Which made her quite the catch, but with her stuborness she would never consider it possible.

"Remember this?' Charlie said smiling at me and waving her hand in front of us.

And there it was my most favourite and beloved childhood memory. Lockwood River I certainly haven't seen it for awhile, but it certainly hasn't changed, like the way a large natural stream of fresh water flowing along a definite course

.Most children had, trampolines or a park or even nothing at all. But i had my own twist of a in ground swimming pool.

The river was in my Granny's yard, and she had no neighbours as her house was very spaced away from the other houses in the neighbourhood.

I loved spending my school holidays here.

When i begain High School, my parents died, which ment i would be an orphan. Well i would have been if my Grandmother hadn't taken me in and looked after me,I was also an only child.

I hadn't seen my Grandmother pass away, because I left home a few years ago, and up until a few days ago today. I got a dreaded phone call saying my Granny died due to a gun shot wound. Turns out when you go shopping one day, Shopping for Potato Bake it will be your last fatal moments of living. Because some asshole wants to start a massacre, and start shooting randomly at innocent people. Some people say he was heoric, i say he was just plain stupid.

I wish I could at least see her again, but when i was younger, she had told me, when she passes away, she would watch over me.

I guess she was the sparkling in the water.

I stopped, sighed "Wow!" The only word that managed to come out of my mouth. "yeah, wow C'mon" she said whilist dragging me to the end of the deck.

Charlie and I went for a swim and after about an hour she got out saying she was ganna make lunch. I insisted on staying in the water.

I was practising my floating skills, by laying on my back which felt like forever. Oh how i loved the warm sun soaking into my skin, and not worrying about a care in the world, because all my problems would simply disappear. Felt like sleeping, so i closed my eyes.

Before i knew it, it started raining. So I swam to the deck, where i left my clothes. I picked them up and as i was running towards the back door. I heard my name being called, thinking it was just Charlie, I ignored it. But then i heard it again, I stopped. Hang on a second, i know that familar voice, could it be?

I turned around and i saw my Granny standing there smiling. She was wearing what she had been buried in, her favourite purple nighting gown.

I'm not normally a emotional person and nor do i believe in ghosts. I couldn't believe what i was seeing before my very eyes. But i responded to the spirt like she was human and i was a emotional wreck.

"I told you, i would watch over you, Pumpkin" she said as she was smiling.

"I love you and i'm sorry i left, I was selfish. This would've never happened otherwise" i said as i was slowly appoarching her. She dissapeared with a blink of an eye .

I blew a kiss goodbye

"I miss you Granny" i said as i was crying and kneeling in the pouring rain.

This is a very interesting beginning to a story. I like how much emotion is within this segment of writing. I was a little confused about her not crying before she had blown the kiss. I completely understand when you're writing and you have no one looking over work telling what doesn't make sense an the things you've missed.
We are human and we are prone to mistakes like the little grammatical errors and the skips and hiccups of the story. That is why authors tend to send their work to editors a million times. Sadly not many of us have that and I will admit right now that I will look I've my work again and I am just absolutely horrified by what I had written the night before with huge spelling errors.
I really like the tart of this though. It provides a lot of material to work with for the plot and what your character will be doing in the future.

Heyy Babygiggles! this is SapphireFlames to the review!
third review of the day and no technology again!
I liked the theme of the short story and you have clearly explained all the emotions that are necessary for this short story. It is well-written and you have also conveyed a clear message to all you're readers.
now lets get to the errors that has to be edited in this piece:

".Most children had, trampolines or a park or even nothing at all. But I had my own twist of a in ground swimming pool".

why is there a full stop at the starting of the sentence? if that's you typing mistake please make sure that you don't continue it.

2.'' Oh how i wished, She was here today, giving me her famous hot chocolate''
First of all the 'i' must be capitalized and also you could form the sentence like this.
"Oh how I wished if she was here today , giving me her famous hot chocolate"

3.''When i begain High School, my parents died, which ment i would be an orphan. Well i would have been if my Grandmother hadn't taken me in and looked after me,I was also an only child''.
Again 'i' must be capitalized and also another error , spelling of 'begain' its 'began'.

The main thing that you need to look into this piece is to you're spelling errors.
other than that I think its a very emotional piece that you have uploaded on this site!

Good luck!
Keep writing and upload more of these! ;)
Have a nice day , Babbygiggles.

Hi babygiggles,Dark here with review.

I totally like this story.Understandable and the plot flow smoothly even though there are problems on formatting and mistyping here c:

I wonder why you uncapitalize 'i' for some part in the story then the rest, suddenly you capitalize them.

I wish I could at least see her again, but when i was younger, she had told me, when she passes away, she would watch over me.

Any reason for this?

Going to the story, this story is about a girl with her grandma who dead because of gunshot wound.'I/she' go back to grandma's house with Charlie after the death of her grandmother's. Then, she heard a voice and saw her grandmother's spirit when she was running towards the back door. There, she had a conversation between two of them, which bring this story to an end.
Good and interesting story.A bit creepy and mysterious .I hope you can expand this story because I think some part need a solution of the questions on my mind. Why she left her grandma?Selfish? How is it?

You also need to improve the grammar;
#Lockwood River I certainly haven't seen it for awhile(for a while), but it certainly hasn't changed,
# i was a(an) emotional wreck.
Keep it up!
kudos,cheers

ok first of all this is somethin ive been though so its a true story so im soryr it's not perfect the only thing which isn't true is my grandmother didn't die via a shooting but via cancer so show some respect please.

My gosh,I am not mean to be rude here. But that was what you said; I got a dreaded phone call saying my Granny died due to a gun shot wound.Don't you? :(

I'm not trying to sound rude either. Just i only wrote what had really happened except for the way she died.

it was a pretty good constructive criticism. Wasnt mean, but held possible corrections. You need to learn to handle it.
