this generation

the only thing that

i can put my trust in

is change itself.

ironic, isn’t it?

the one thing that is

stable is the very fact

that nothing will ever

stay the same.

generations will keep

passing by,

each different in its own way.

each generation getting better,

learning to be more sensitive,

to be more accepting,

learning to love.

sometimes, when the world

looks so terrifying

that i feel suffocated,

when i can barely breathe,

i try

and i remember;

the world is changing.

we are a part of the change—

this generation

will be the one to

save us all,

for we,

we are the next generation.

we are the ones who hold the power.

and we will use it

to repaint the world

not in the harsh colors of blood,

(no, no longer will we fight)

but in the soft colors of love.

Hey atalati,

Shady here with a review for you!

I really liked the imagery you used in this poem. It had a beautiful flow and your word choices are excellent. I typically am not great at poetry and don't really know what it's talking about, I understood perfectly the sentiment you wanted to communicate with this poem. And I loved every bit of it.

the one thing that is

stable is the very fact

that nothing will ever

stay the same.

This is great. Truly great. I loved the thought conveyed here, and the way that you tied this theme into the rest of the poem.

I also loved the message behind this poem. I am not a gen z'er, but as a millennial I feel like this is also applicable to my generation. We get so much flack from older generations, but as you said we are the ones who hold the power to repaint the world. And it's nice to see an inspirational piece, one that portrays us as purposefully molding the future into something we want to see rather than lazily waiting around for things to improve.

I just really loved this poem in general. It was very well written and all-around enjoyable.

Keep writing!

Hey,
I really enjoyed this poem and appreciated the strong message it holds.
I'll start off with the form and structure of the poem. I thought it was very thoughtful of you not to stick to a rigid structure and went with free verse. I feel like this reflects on the fluidity of said generation and how they have the power to change everything into whatever pleases them.
Onto language, you do use relatively simple language that may reflect on the lack of complexity of the generation itself (I'm sorry if this is sounding like a English essay lol). I think though, you could use more imagery and metaphors. Theres nothing wrong with your poem as it is, but it's just my personal pretence to have figurative language. I loved the metaphor of "repaint the world" it sounds so nice and just easy, encouraging change.
My favourite line was "the one thing that is

stable is the very fact

that nothing will ever

stay the same."
I felt like that was the whole message of the poem.
Anyhow enough rambling, I really enjoyed your poem, I hope my review helped, and the things I gave as "criticism" were mere suggestions.
Thanks for sharing :)
