Hello there Anna! Dogs here with your review today! Firstly I'd like to say I love your avatar, I've been watching it for forever and it still never ceases to be hilarious. As you've requested, I'm not going to correct your grammar but do keep it mind that good grammar is always essential to making your writing flow smoothly and easier to comprehend for the reader. If you're having troubles with your grammar I would suggest that you copy and paste your piece into word before submitting and than do a grammar/spell check. I use it all the time and it's truly helpful. Anywho on to ze review!

So I think the first thing that we should address is the formatting that you should use. Granted you did put this under other, but currently it's formatted more as a prose piece. I suggest that you put in stanzas in your writing like so:

"Dear Poetry,
find the words with me
to get out what I need to say.
I've been searching for a rhythm;
I have so much to convey.

Dear Poetry,
you have always been there
when I've needed you most,
but where are you now?"

So on and so forth, that just becomes easier and smoother to read.

On another note, I think you need to explore the idea of how poetry really provides a 'great relief' for you as a writer. I feel like that is a big aspect of your poem, but it isn't really answered. Why does poetry make you feel "great relief?" If you answer that question you'll be golden, you give us an idea as to why it gives you relief by saying it's been there when you needed it, but how has it been there for you? Do you use poetry as a way to release all your emotions? Does it serve as someone to talk to? How does that all work? Explore that realm of the topic a little more.

I love the idea of writing a letter to poetry, that was brilliant on your part of choosing to do that, all and all a lovely piece that just needs a few more components and than you'll be good. Let me know if you ever need a review. Keep up the good work!

I understand, I am currently learning better punctuation and such so i'm on my way there! Also, yes I have used poetry as an outlet for a great portion of my life, nearly 11 years now. I lived a difficult life and nothing relieved me more than the feeling of writing my feelings down. I took a break from writing ( couple years) and feel as though I've lost the fire somehow, I can feel the flames wanting to roar, but it's just more difficult unlike it used to be. I was trying to write a poem about the break up I am just going through (was a close 4 year relationship) and my mind went numb, I just feel numb, and while trying to pull it all out on paper.. I just couldn't, so I wrote a letter to poetry asking for what I miss most, that great relief. :)

also, I wanted my poem to be written out in that structure but the stupid thing wouldn't let me lol.

I like the last part the best - Dear Poetry, How I miss the great relief you provide, Sincerely Anna (Do not subside). It's good to know that instead of searching for a topic or an object to write on, you have put down your feelings about poetry itself, although not in a much broader way (which is actually good).

I like this, and yes, I won't be a grammer nazi. First of all, I like the rhyming in this, you have some good word choices! Often, in rhyming poetry, people try so hard to find the rhyme, but don't care if the word doesn't fit into the picture the poem tries to create. I don't see the problem here. I have two favourite lines:
Dear Poetry, find the words within me to get out what I need to say. I've been searching for a rhythm; I have so much to convey.
AND
Dear Poetry, How I miss the great relief you provide, Sincerly Anna (Do not subside)
I am sure when you sort out the issues that you are working on, this will be a great piece!
Well done for a nice though-out poem.
Lioness
