painting the roses red

We’re painting the roses red
I’m covering up another mistake so you wont want me dead.

Only had the courage to tell you
The queen who has no heart
That I cant stand our roses being the same colour
Even when mine blossom dark
I don’t care if it looks great
Because it was a mistake to plant them in a bed in your view
And if you want a garden fresh as mine then
Use your brain and use that spine and
Be a Mary quite contrary and let your garden grow
All I can do is paint my roses red
So you can’t see a difference.

We’re painting the roses red
I’m trying to patch the fence
But the thorns are in my side and growing.
We’re painting the roses red
I’m covering up another mistake so you wont want me dead.

Tell the cards to paint the whole scene red
The hearts who has no heart
Can’t stand her roses being red
I can’t stand the same colour
I can’t stand me being a role model
I really just want out
Paint your roses the same as someone else!
If I wasn’t here would you like the red
or would yours resemble your soul instead?
Would you have black roses?
If I did would you paint yours red again?
Said to the queen of hearts who has no heart
Who has no red to paint her roses with

We’re painting the roses red
I’m trying to patch the fence
But the thorns are in my side and growing.
We’re painting the roses red
I’m covering up another mistake so you wont want me dead.

I can’t tell anyone what a mess we’re in
When I do, they don’t care
Or they just dig in
All I need is some advice
A little guidance would be nice
To gouge out your eyes and rip out your soul would
Only give me more red paint
Would only make the world fade.

Because I’m painting the roses red
yours were black and now they’re red
but reality is history
and roses are all red

Honestly, I thought the idea was great until I got into it. It just doesn't seem as original as I had thought, and it didn't flow all that well. I don't know, it might be better with music.

I get very easliy confused and in the middle of the song I was lost. By the end it all made sense. So now that I'm at the and it all makes sense I can say these three words : I loved it! :)

I like the content. One or two lines were just a teense awkward, it's true, but if you do it right putting it to music, I'm sure it will work out fine. The last stanza was especially punchy. Good job!

to be honest, I didn't finish reading this.

The idea isn't exactly original--- I've seen or heard this idea in many different forms many different times.

Also; work on your flow. I imagine someone singing this would have to beable to alternately stretch out notes and then speed through lines Twista style in order to make this work. Even up the syllables.

good luck,
Ed

You never really know how much of you takes residence in other people... We all exchange bits and pieces of ourselves with each other until we're big sparkly collages of everyone and everything we've ever loved
