my life: the military,boys,and stress (part 1) (first draft)

this is something i sort of came up with, im stuck right now as to where to go next, the first 3 highlighted paragraphs i dont know wich one i should pick, the purple is if i want to keep it or not

It was a hot summer afternoon in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Katie was up in her tree, in her uniform, with her Air force baseball cap turned backwards. “Hey tree hugger, what are you up too?” Jake said as he tugged on her boots.” “Just waiting for Brian and your guy’s mom to get here, were off to the National Encampment” she said while he climbed up. “Awesome for how long?” “3 weeks remember it’s all the way out at the Air Force Academy.” “I’m gonna miss you!” “Shut up you already know I want a military boyfriend.” Looking at her with a puppy dog eyes “I wasn’t implying that” rolling her eyes “sure you weren’t” a black view pulls in the driveway and Brian hops out. “Yo what up guys?” “Jake’s just trying to get me to go out with him.” She says as she hops out of the tree. Jake hops out too and rolls his eyes at Brian “I wasn’t, I just told her I was going to miss her”

1 Jake says while pulling Katie’s hat off and putting on HEY! She yells stealing it and putting it back on. They both look at her concerned “are you ok Katie?” Jake says putting his hand on her shoulder. She glances between both of them and hops into the car. Brian opens the door to find her crying. “is everything ok? You never steal your hat back like that”

2 Jake says while pulling Katie’s hat off and putting on. “HEY! Cmon that’s not funny give it back!” she yells “never!!! Hahaha!” Jake yells already halfway up the tree “please! It’s not funny! Im serious!” she yells her voice cracking, Jake climbs down and hands it back then They both look at her concerned “are you ok Katie?” Jake says putting his hand on her shoulder. She glances between both of them and hops into the car. Brian opens the door and finds her crying. “Is everything ok? You never get that upset about your hat being stolen, at least not like that”

3 Jake says while pulling Katie’s hat off and putting on. “HEY! C’mon that’s not funny give it back!” she yells “never!!! Hahaha!” Jake yells already halfway up the tree “please! It’s not funny! Im serious!” she yells her voice cracking, Jake climbs down and hands it back then They both look at her concerned “are you ok Katie?” Jake says putting his hand on her shoulder. She glances between both of them and hops into the car Brian opens the door to find her not there, he looks in the back and finds her hiding under a blanket crying; he climbs in and says “Is everything ok? You never get that upset about your hat being stolen, at least not like that” she shakes her head, Jake climbs in “can you at least come out?” she shakes her head again “uh uh! Never!” “please Katie” Brian says concerned. She pulls the blanket off her head and looks at them then she starts to climb over the seat while they climb out “what’s up with you is everything ok?” Jake asks

She looks at them and hops out into Brian’s arms “No, I’m not ok” she takes her hat off and shows them the bald spot “I had a horrible anxiety attack last night and did this!” Brian hugs her tighter and puts her hat back on “have you been taking your meds?” She looks at Jake over Brian’s shoulder, and then climbs back into the car shutting the door behind her. Jake opens it and looks at her “you can’t be doing this! You have been doing so well! “I know I have I just…I just…I can’t be taking them in the military!!” sobs Katie “we know that, but can’t just go off not taking them!” Jake says much too loudly as he pushes his hair back while pacing , Brian shakes his head leaning against the car “Katie” as he gently pulls her out of the car “we both know that, you gotta be careful, you know what happened over Christmas break” looking at both of them she nods her head “ do you have your meds with you?” asks Brian, she nods her head and gives Jake a hug, holding her tight he says “ please, take your meds and have fun” “ I don’t think that’s really possible at an encampment” she whispers , he laughs and gives her one last squeeze planting a kiss on her forehead “well then, don’t have a fun time but at least take your meds” giggling she stands at attention saluting him “YES SIR!!” laughing he salutes back not noticing Brian ready to tackle him “DUDE!” laughing Brian pins him to the ground “just wanted to say goodbye geesh” helping Jake up he winks at Katie, “c’mon guys time to go!” says Mrs. Woodard, the boys mom, “k mom be right there” says Brian as he does his handshake with Jake “seeya in a few weeks bro!” “Ok, don’t get into too much trouble without me!” Jake says walking Katie to her side of the car “thanks Jake” she says hugging him then kissing him, blushing she jumps into the car fast and hides in her seat, blinking he smiles opening her door back up pulls her into his arms kissing her gently “I love you Katie” blushing she kisses back “I love you too” she hugs him one more time and hops into the car and shuts her door. “What was all that about?” Brian asks questioningly “nothing you need to worry about” as they pull out she watches Jake climb into her tree waving , she smiles and looks at Brian “ I knew you liked him!” “I didn’t before, it was an impulse” she says yawning “sure it was” looking over to find her falling asleep, pulling out a blanket he puts it over her and falls asleep himself.

HOOOOONK!!!!!! “What the crap!” Brian exclaims waking up “sorry sweetheart, traffic jam” Mrs. Woodward says affectionately “ it’s ok mom” says Brian tiredly looking over at Katie as she stirs “ hey Katie have a nice nap?” “Yeah I did, you?” “Yeah, all up until that jerk honked his horn” laughing Katie nods her head “where are we?” “We are in Illinois heading into Iowa soon” Mrs. Woodward says “are you two hungry?” Yawning Katie nods “yeah a bit” “starving, where’s the next Culver’s?” Brian says looking more awake at the mention of food “look it up on your iPod honey, I have no clue” Mrs. Woodward says tiredly “it’s almost eight, after food we are going to stop at a hotel for the night” Katie perks up “will it have a pool?” she asks excitedly “ most likely” Mrs. Woodward says “you are so in love with the water yet you are going into the air force?” Brian asks questioningly already knowing the answer, giving him a little shove Katie says “you already know I’m better off in the air force with my anxiety, have you found a Culver’s yet?” “Yeah, here are the directions mom” handing her the phone he turns to Katie “why do u love the water so much?” “I guess it’s in my blood, but I love the air a lot better now, I really wish I could have brought my glider!” she says “you know they would never let you!” Brian says shaking his head “I know that! It would have been really cool though, showing off my routines to the other kids!” She says earnestly “you are really good though! I wish I was that good” Brian exclaims jealously “I bet you do but you are getting better I just can’t wait for my seventeenth birthday so I can finally get my private pilot license! Then I can take you up with me!” she says practically jumping out of her seat “Guys we’re here” Mrs. Woodward says. They all got out of the car and headed into Culver’s. *bleep bleep* *bleep bleep* “what’s that?” Brian asks “just a text message” Katie says pulling out her phone and checking it, grinning she says “it’s from Jake” “what did he say” Brian asks poking her with a goofy grin “nothing” stealing the phone from her he reads aloud in a goofy voice “ “hey Katie! Where are you right now? I wish I could be with you! I love you so much!” heart heart x o x o, awwwww! Jake and Katie sittin in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g first comes” shoving him she grabs back her phone and says “stop it! you’re so annoying sometimes!” he laughs “sorry” hurriedly Katie replies I love you too sweetheart, we are heading into culvers right now in Illinois we will be in Iowa soon, you should have come for the ride then! *heart* “alright you two, what do you want?” Mrs. Woodward asks “two double cheeseburgers, a large fry and a medium chocolate concrete mixer with m&m’s, brownie, Oreo’s, cookie dough, and Reese’s Pieces” brain says hungrily “You’re such a pig, I will have chicken nuggets, a medium fry, and a small chocolate concrete mixer with Butterfinger and cookie dough please” Katie says politely “alright why don’t you two find a table” “Yes mam” Brian says a bit annoyed “why are you so annoying?” Katie shrugs her shoulders “I’m not, I’m just polite and not a total pig” she says giving him a friendly punch in the shoulder “whatever” rolling his eyes he shrugs it off, bowing he sarcastically says in a fake French accent “mademoiselle” as he gestures to the booth next to him “would this booth be suitable enough for you?” She curtsies and says perfectly in French with a beautiful accent “Merci Mon bon monsieur, où avez-vous apprendre à être un tel messieurs?” (Thank you kind sir, where did you learn to be such a gentlemen) He stood up very confused at what she was saying “huh, what in the world are you saying Katie?” as she sits down grinning she says “Im parlant français idiot vous!” (im speaking French you idiot) sitting down Brian says “ could you stop speaking alien and speak English” giggling she says “française n'est pas étrangère” (French not alien) banging his head on the table he says annoyed “just speak English!” laughing her head off she says “alright whatever you wish douleur royale dans la crosse” (royal pain in the butt) “ok I give up what are you saying” Brian says completely lost “ I was speaking French, I have been taking it for three years”

“Yo Jake! What you up in the tree for?” yells nick “wha waaaaaaaaaa” Jake yells as he falls from the tree, nick and the others run over “what did you do that for!” Jake says loudly tackling nick and pinning him down “Dude! What’s up with you?” nick says confused as Stacy comes forward pulling Jake off “he’s love struck, I’m guessing with Katie as she and Brian just went off to their national encampment all the way out in Colorado at the air force academy so he’s staring into space daydreaming about her” they all look at her than at Jake “is this true dude?” joey says proudly “we mighta kissed a little bit” Jake mutters, all the boys cheer and congratulate him then they look at Stacy “ how did you know I was “love struck”?” jakes asks questioningly “it’s easy you were slouched over chin in your hands staring off toward the road with a goofy look on your face, none the less you were sitting in Katie’s favorite spot in her favorite tree” Stacy says like the boys have no clue about anything but sports “ how do you girls know so much yet so little?” nick asks “ you know I can kick your butt” Cassidy says walking toward the group “wait, why aren’t you with Katie and Brian?” asks Blake “I already told you guys a million times, my parents already bought me a plane ticket for tomorrow” Cassidy states exasperated by boys lack to remember things “wait!” nick says excitedly “ what time does your plane leave tomorrow?” “11:15, why? and no, I’m not goin to wait” “ Jake how much money do you have?” “About 100 or so, why?” “I have 50, we might just be able to get you out to Colorado to see Katie off!!” “That’s crazy, a ticket now would cost like $500! Plus he might not even be able to sit by me! And they wouldn’t have much time together anyhow!” Cassidy says “we just might be able too, and it’s worth it, it doesn’t start until Wednesday right! Its only Saturday! And they are already halfway there! They could meet at the hotel!” nick says excitedly “you have one messed up crazy mind nick” Cassidy says shaking her head “but for once you might have come up with a genius idea! What do you think Jake?” “what? huh? Oh yeah sounds good” Jake says quite plainly “you have absolutely no clue what we are talking about do you?” Cassidy says disapprovingly “no” “alright, well we are planning on getting you out to Colorado with me so you can see Katie off” Cassidy says “wait, how?” Jake asks “we’re gonna pull our money together so you can fly out with Cassidy and spend a few days with your girlfriend before her encampment” nick says “who says we were gonna help?” Stacy says annoyed “whaaaaaaaaat! You guys aren’t gonna help?” nick asks whiningly “how gullible can you get?” Stacy says cracking up “of course we’re gonna help!” Stacy states “alright I have $135 from lawn mowing, but I will only pitch in $100 I wanna get the new Call of Duty game!” Joey says “ok, I have $400 from my job but I will only donate $150 because im saving up for a laptop” Stacy says “I think I have about $75” Cassidy says pulling out her wallet “ok so that’s $425, will that be enough for this last minute?” nick asks worriedly “I still have no clue what’s going on!” Jake states as he starts banging his head on the tree “JAKE! Stop! You’re gonna hurt yourself! and we don’t want that now do we?” Stacy says pulling him away from the tree “just go inside call your mom to make sure you can fly out with Cassidy and pack your bags for Colorado, Maggie can you go in and help him?” “Sure thing, and here’s $50” Maggie says as hands Stacy the money and starts to steer Jake toward his house “alright so that’s $475, that’s got to be enough right?” nick asks Cassidy “probably, we will have to check online”

“Hey mom, I was wondering if I could fly out to meet you guys at the hotel to surprise Katie?” “I don’t think so hon, we don’t have the money” Mrs. Woodward says over the phone “my friends are all pitching in and I have a bit, Cassidy is flying out tomorrow and I think” “hey Jake! What shirts do you want to bring?” Maggie says from the background “I don’t know! Just pick them for me please, as I was saying I think we have enough for me to go, please?” Jake pleads “alright but be careful, I will email you the hotel and approximate times” Mrs. Woodward says cautiously “Thanks mom!! You’re the best!” he hangs up and goes to inspect his luggage “thanks Maggie” she shrugs and zips it up “no big deal, I’m a natural at it anyways” he picks up his bag and starts to carry it out “you know it has wheels on it right?” Maggie says showing him, he looks at it “no I didn’t, I don’t travel much, thanks” she shrugs and shows him the handle to use, they walk out to see the group huddling over a laptop “no, it’s at 11:15 am not pm!” Cassidy says loudly taking the laptop from nick “hey what did you do that for!” nick says trying to take it back “watch yourself missy I can kick your butt easily” she says while focusing on the laptop her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth “why do you do that?” nick says sounding a bit grossed out “what?” Cassidy asks confused “stick your tongue out like that” nick says annoyed “oh that, it’s just a quirk, Katie and I both do it, oddly enough” Cassidy says putting her focus back on the laptop “you two would make the perfect couple” Jake says laughing, nick wrestles him down to the ground “ don’t you ever say that again!” Jake gets him a headlock “oh don’t be so sure that I won’t” he says laughing “I would never go out with a worm like him anyways!” Cassidy says looking at Jake with her death stare, letting nick go Jake says “alright, alright, sorry, don’t get so excited!” Joey tackles Nick and starts wrestling with him while Stacy and Maggie look at a magazine “so did you find a ticket?” Jake asks Cassidy while looking over her shoulder she nods “thankfully, the plane isn’t even sold out” “really I’m surprised with this big of an encampment” Jake says, she shakes her head “this is only for certain people, it’s an invite only encampment, their only going to be about 75-100 cadets there” he nods “hey everyone come here a sec!” Cassidy yells, the girls walk over and the boys take a minute and Nick finally walks over with Joey in a headlock. “Alright I got it for $400 so I will give my whole $75, I already got it through my parents account I texted them and said it was alright as long as I paid them back, so Jake $100 dollars from you that leaves $225 and there is 4 of you so $55 each from 3 and $60 from, does that work? Cassidy asks “I will give $60 since it was my idea” nick offers and hands over the cash “I only had 50” Maggie says “that’s fine I will pitch in $60” Joey says flashing her a grin handing over the money, Stacy hands over $105 “that’s from Maggie and me combined, she already gave me her 50” “alright I will give that to my parents as soon as possible” Cassidy says “thanks everyone, you really didn’t have to do this” Jake says sincerely, nick gives him a noogie “that’s alright bucko, it’s not every day you get a girl is it” Jake pulls away “nope and I’m sure glad it isn’t, because than you would probably give me a noogie for every time I get one” Jake says gladly, everyone laughs “alright, is all your stuff packed Jake?” Cassidy asks “yeah, what time are you picking me up and how long the flight will be?” Jake asks “about 10, AM” she says looking right at nick “and 2 hours” Cassidy states, nick looks around trying to figure out who she was looking at “I was looking at you idiot” Cassidy says rolling her eyes “wait, does anyone know where Blake went?” Joey asks looking around “I’m up here stupid!” Blake says taking a swig of his pop and looking at them from the tree “I got some pop and snacks to celebrate Jake’s new girl and came up here cus everyone was wigging out” *bleep bleep* *bleep bleep* taking out his cell Jake grins and texts back

“Dude! Can you stop textin for like 2 minutes?” Blake asks “leave me be it was katie” jake says tackling Blake “are you boys comin or are you just going to roll around in the dirt like pigs?”Cassidy asks, getting up Jake shakes his hair out “were comin chill” he hollers, walkin over the boys pile into the back of the truck “oh and Cassidy, Katie says she can’t wait to see you” Jake says through the slide window

“stop it Brian!” katie screeches while he tugs on her ankle from underwater “im not doin nothin” he says while he shakes his hair out “you know your goin to have to shave that off in the next couple of days” he shrugs his shoulders “I know I’m just keepin it long for now, hey, aren’t those Air Patrol uniforms?” he asks watching a group of teens check in “yeah they are, wanna go meet them?” she asks “sure” he says climbing out of the pool and pulling her out “I wonder where they are from, it’s weird they are at the same hotel!” she says wrapping towel around herself and walking out “yeah that’s true, I just wonder what rank they are!” he says watching them, Katie walks over and salutes them “um hi?” one of them says confused, seeing their rank she does the formal greeting “Cadet Katie Johnson, Civil Air Patrol group 364, Rank Cadet Captain, Achievement 12, Destination National Encampment” they automatically snap into position saluting back one of them replies “Cadet Mike Larson, Civil Air Patrol group 492,Rank Cadet Technical Sergeant, Achievement 4, Destination National Encampment” Katie releases them as Brian walks over “well done Johnson, I will have to tell our leader” he says as he nods to the group “at ease cadets” they relax “ so Larson, are you the highest grade cadet here?” Katie asks “well I have been put in charge since I am the oldest” he replies “that’s not what I asked cadet, I asked if you were the highest grade cadet here, it’s a simple yes or no answer, I don’t care whom is in charge” Katie says sternly “no mam” he replies, a cadet steps forward and salutes, she releases and he shakes her hand “Cadet Cody Tucker, Cadet Chief Master Sergeant, achievement 8, I am the highest grade cadet here, he is only in charge of getting us here, and checked in, I’m in charge of everything else” smiling “ nice to meet you Cody, if I may ask what is the lowest grade cadet here?” Katie asks “Larson is the lowest and only Technical Sergeant; we have only been traveling for about a half an hour, we are supposed to meet our leader here in about an hour, he had a meeting at his other job” “We are from Michigan, only me and a friend are traveling, well with his mom too, we were just swimming if you would like to join us or did you have other group plans” katie asks “we did have some group plans, would you like to tag along and be guests for the rest of the trip?” Cody asks while trying to control the group “A TEN HUT!” Brian says to the group “ALL OF YOU! Get into your BDU’s and you better be by the pool in 5!” they all run off toward their rooms while Brian nods to Cody and walks off toward the pool, Cody nods back “wow, he sure can get control off the group!” katie laughs “ yeah he can, he’s a higher rank than me at Cadet First Lieutenant, achievement 10, he leads by example but still treats them like dogs, it’s a real interesting but effective way, all the cadets respect him but can still be like best buddies out of uniform, and we would love to tag along as long as it’s okay with his mom” smiling he says “awesome, would you like to go watch the cadets?” nodding as the all the cadets rush by “sure” they walk into the pool area and sit down “A TEN HUT!” Brian yells at the cadets as the snap up into position “you are going to be treading water for 25 minutes with your BDU’s on, then you are going swim a 1,000 breast stroke!” he says as he releases the cadets and they jump into the pool “alright start treading!” he says while he gets the timer going and paces the pool edge “how long as he been in air patrol?” Cody asks watching the cadets “ummm, I think 5 years now, he earned the Spaatz award in his 3rd year” she says catching a cadet trying to sneak off “one sec Cody!”She says jumping into the pool and dragging a cadet from under water in the other end over to the deep end “LARSON! Don’t you ever try that on us again!” she says loudly and sternly as she gets out of the pool “20 more minutes on treading and another 300 to the swimming, only instead of the breaststroke, you’re going to do the butterfly!” she says loudly to the whole group shaking herself off, Brian wraps her towel around her and turns her around “Katie, I can handle this” he says looking at her in the eye “ you didn’t catch the escapee” she says poking him in the abs and walking back to her chair. “im goin to go change into my suit and swim a little bit, I will be right back” cody says getting up “alright, I might join you” katie says smiling as he walks out of the door “excuse me are you Katie Johnson?” someone says from behind her a few minutes later, she turns around to see a air force captain and jumps up saluting him “Cadet Katie Johnson, U.S. Civil Air Patrol, Sir” he nods looking her up and down saluting her and releasing, shaking her hand he says “Captain Mike Whitaker of the U.S. Air Force, I am also the leader of this Air Patrol group” nodding to the cadets in the pool, shaking his hand she says “an honor to meet you sir, were training your cadets because they were being extremely disrespectful and rowdy” he nods and walks over to Brian as Cody walks in and jumps in the pool with Katie following close behind.

this is just a first draft i have many changes going on at the moment, i will post it up again in a week or two with changes thanks for reading!
