Anyone of you guys read any of his books? King Rat, Iron Council, etc.? Supposedly, he is the creator of New Weird. A...sort of fiction it seems...that incorporates elements from horror, fantasy and (most of the times) steampunk. (from what I heard, correct me if im wrong.)
I just recently discovered him, a few weeks ago in fact, and im in the middle of reading Ircon Council. VERY original. IMHO, finally someone that transcends from the "usual fantasy". There are TOO many elves, orcs and dwarves in fantasy. So many infact, that one cannot even clasify as "fantasy creatures" any more. Elves in movies, elves in video games...this guy does NOT have "LOTR critters" in his works.
China stands for originality. Hands down.

Your comment was posted, but it wasn’t long enough to count as a review. Reviews need about four complete sentences (at least 250 characters). Try writing another review that explains your thoughts in more detail — the author will appreciate it, and you’ll earn points for it.
This makes me want to read Mieville's books, for sure. But there were some grammar issues:
1. Is the book title Iron Council or Ircon Council? Which one is right, and which one is a typo?
2. Infact should have a space: In fact.
3. Etc, IMHO, and other acronyms are great in chat, but in a formal work, they should be avoided when possible.
4. The capitalized words would be better italicized. Sorry, I'm picky about that!
5. The first sentence feels too casual for a proper review.
I hope this helps! Or, at least, I hope you enjoy looking back at your work from 2006...I have a habit of finding old works, don't judge me! Lol.
Heven't heard of him...I don't read much fantasy.
...But I love authors in general who have original material, though.
ps-The guy must be good, he wears the symbol of a fantasy world on his shirt.
