Deborah
Come now and judge me,
like Deborah before the rain;
shadows congregate between us
in the hole that separates
justice from the just.
A fire is lit and burns
stronger in your eyes
than on the tinder
and I stand motionless
awaiting the falling
hail of Autumn
right before winter.
And you, there:
holy, becoming
yourself, your hand
outstretched, slender,
pointing—to me,
the dead,
the convicted.
Hail begins as
your hand falls down
in a signal.

beautiful images. i definitely enjoyed the ending. not much to say, but i think your poetry is improving.
deborah is also (besides from the bible) my mom's name. *shudders*
Deborah is one of the Judges in the old testament of the Bible.
I really like this, some great imagery. Not sure if I really understand the meaning, I'm stuck on "Like Deborah before the rain". This is what I think it means; the hail and rain symbolises an argument? Accusations?
