Baby Blue Rosary
Fell asleep with my rosary
baby blue, tied around a belt loop;
not tired—no sleep around—
only the lava—the glowing, burning,
fiery though soon to be stone
lava of wakefulness.
I wish it were easy to just say
“sleep.”

the glowing, burning,
fire, though soon to be stone,
lava of wakefulness
...or something like that. because what you said makes no grammatical sense.
I guess this piece kind of had an effect on me because whenever I can't sleep I say my rosary. And mine used to be baby blue, believe it or not. I wasn't really sure what the "lava of wakefulness" was supposed to be, but I like it all the same. I've done enough of lying in bed with my rosary wrapped aorund my hand when I was little and wishing I could sleep, even if I was too wound up or too afraid to do so.
