Missing the years

by Youbeaucupid

In shadows cast by the fading sun's ray,

We ponder on the year that slips away,
A bittersweet farewell to joys and strife,
As 2023 departs from our life.

Yet in the shadows, anticipation thrives

For the promise of a year where hope revives,

2024 beckons with its untrodden path,
A chance for dreams to blossom, free from wrath.

Oh, how we'll miss the days that now recede,

The laughter, the bonds that we have freed,
The memories etched within our beating hearts,
Unforgettable moments, like priceless works of art.

But with every ending, new beginning awaits,
A fresh canvas where life rejuvenates,
2024 emerges a vibrant glow,
The harbinger of wonders we've to know.

As the clock strikes midnight, heralding the change,
Let's embrace the unseen, unknown, the strange,
We navigate uncharted roads ahead,
And build a life where dreams are freely spread.

Though we'll miss the old familiar faces,
The comfort of familiar places,
2024 carries opportunities untold,
Like secrets whispered by wind, yet bold.

So let us bid farewell with gratitude and grace,
2023, a year that held its own embrace,
And welcome the year that stands before,
With open arms, we greet 2024.

Hello there, Cupid! I'm reviewing using the YWS S'more Method today!

Shalt we commence with the review?

Top Graham Cracker - This is a poem about 2023 transitioning into 2024, about how we’ll be mournful, but it will be worth it all the same.

Slightly Burnt Marshmallow -I guess if you wanted to, you could add in the celebration of New Year’s Eve in the poem, but it’s fine as is.

Chocolate Bar - I love the overall theme that though there were memories made in 2023, new memories will be made in 2024. There’s so much to discover in the new year, and so far, it’s looking great. :>

Closing Graham Cracker -A cute little poem about how 2024 will bring new ideas and hope to us all. The new year means new dreams, dreams all worth pursuing and discovering. I’ve enjoyed reading this. ^v^

I wish you a lovely day/night!

Thanks for writing this, it captures so much of how I and others feel every New Year! An entire year's worth of making new memories and new friends, but also of walking a separate path from our old friends and interests too. I love how you brought attention to how familiarity brings us comfort. We get used to something, it becomes a part of our schedule. And you also point out the sadness and anxiety that may come with stepping into the unknown. But also the anticipation, the eagerness to see what will happen. It's really the duality of human beings. Nobody knows what is to come this new year, but it's coming regardless, so we may as well embrace it and make the best of it. I think it's a very nice way to look at things.
