Why Me?

Why is everyone looking at me?

Am I an incredible person?

With whom everyone wants to hang out with ?

Or

Am I just a school "freak"?

Who everyone mocks and disgusts.

Why won't anyone tell me anything?

Am I that unworthy?

Does anyone even care about my emotions

And the fun side of me?

Is it because my parents don't earn as much theirs?

Or

Because I don't wear skimpy clothes?

Is it because I wear nerdy glasses,

And a straight A's student?

Please tell me the reason why I am so distinct from them,

Even though we look just the same.

Why won't anyone let me share my secrets

And lighten my grey heart, heavy with grief?

Why do I get shunned away,

When I approach with a friendly smile?

Why does nobody want to be my friend?

Would you care to be my angel?

"It ain't about black or white cause we're all HUMAN."

Hello, kay0rys28!

I totally get the message behind this poem, I think it's a feeling that a lot of people go through in their teenage years, and even sometimes beyond it. That makes it something that a lot of people can relate to.

Having said that, this makes this poem rather generic. Because so many people do go through these feelings I feel like anyone could've written this, and you need to make it more personal to you. So my first suggestion is to maybe use some more poetic techniques like metaphors which relate to your own experiences, or just anything which isn't so cliche.

Because I don't wear skimpy clothes?

I wasn't sure if this was being used in an ironic way or not. If it wasn't, then it makes the narrator of this poem just as bad as the people they're talking about, because this line sounds like they're judging people for wearing skimpy clothing.

Is it because I wear nerdy glasses

This is another cliche which just annoyed me a bit. Like, I never understood this whole glasses thing. I've seen it in TV shows, but does this actually happen- people getting bullied for wearing glasses?

I agree with Widdershins that the angel bit was very random. I mean, if before in the poem they mentioned feelings hopeless or like the needed someone, then it'd make more sense. But right now it seems out of place. In fact, so does the quote at the end. Whoever it's by, that seems like more of a quote to relate to racism, but you've just thrown it in at the end, when the poem talks more about getting bullied for behavioral things such as getting good grades and wearing glasses.

The message behind the poem is good, but you just need to try and make it sound less generic. Hope this helps, feel free to ask me any questions or if you'd like another review on anything. Keep writing,

~ArcticMonkey x

Thank you so much. I will definitely keep that in mind next time

I totally agree!! The world we live in can be just pure ugly and often people feel like they are being seen for what they are instead of who they are. You did a wonderful job!! X

Thank you. Really appreciated

I think that everyone should be treated equally! Everyone can feel this way, and I don't think that anyone is amused, or adored. Don't beat yourself up about it. You are unique and amazing in your way. I like your poem a lot, just be yourself and if people don't care, then it's their problem!
You Rock!
Keep the poems coming!

Hello CapitalMonday here to give you a review! I would like to say first off, this poem is so true and amazing that everyone (even myself) has felt this way in some point in life. We wonder do they like us? Do you want to be friends with me even though I'm mentally insane? This poem could relate to anyone who could be bullied or has been bullied since I think (and I'm not sure about it) that people have been bullied in some point in life.

Many people have made fun of me, with my big nose and dorky glasses but I wonder forward and continue with my friends since they are like you in some ways then you think. Also how people share the rumors that we want to keep inside, to tell our friends not their friends. Or how many people get shunned in the hallway by their friends, and now they feel bad and they try to come over and tell you they are sorry but the damage is done.

Hope you enjoy.. Sorry if this isn't really a "review"

This is a heart warming poem. I wonder if it could have more description of what you felt. Other than that I love the poem.

Thank you so much.

Hi there! First off, I like your format of your poem. But I did have a few...problems with it.

First off, I am an absolute SUCKER for telling it like it is. I hate stereotypes and discrimination as well and when I'm upset or angered about something....I go all out. My advice to you is to dig deep and find your true feelings about this topic...and right it all out on paper. Sometimes when you really think and dig deep, the poem can become so much more meaningful, not only to you, but to everyone who reads it. But I really liked the concept of this poem VERY MUCH SO. I just feel like you were struggling to write it all out.

Also, watch your grammar. Sometimes it isn't correct but eh nobody's perfect. Keep writing!

Isn't that quote by 2Pac? :P

Hello! I'm about to be brutally honest, so take this with a grain of salt, and just know I'm here to help you improve!
So, this poem struck me as really whiny, and that's not a good thing for a poem to be, or no one will want to read it. I totally understand the sentiment behind this, I think we all think these things all the time, but your audience doesn't care about /you specifically./ It's a hard truth to learn. Instead of talking about your self through this whole thing, why not expand your ideas outwards toward the whole of society?

I don't understand the part about being an angel, mostly because it feels really, really out of place. You didn't mention angels or anything close to having to do with the concept of an angel before. It's like you introduce a new concept and then just let it drop.

This looks like a typo:

When a approach with a friendly smile?

I've always heard the term as "Straight A student," not "A's."

Make this more unique, and make it so that a reader might be interested in what you're saying and drawn in by your empathy to the entire world, not just your own navel-gazing.

Use more metaphors (that aren't cliche! You do use a lot of cliches in this) and other poetic devices.

I know you could do better! Keep it up, and keep writing!

Thank you so much. Will definitely keep that in mind
