4 elements, 4 girls.

I walked down the corridor of Lynrivers High School, passing the of bitches' and school jockeys, each all staring at me. The bitches' with there stomach churning glares and the jockeys with their bored gazes. Each all leaning against the blue locker's.

My sneakers squeaked against the cold white marble as  I gracefully walked pass them all, ignoring their unsettling glances, with a feeling of belonging. Today seemed like a different day; as if something extraordinary was going to happen. This feeling within me could not be explained or told. Everything about today seemed different, well except for the smell of Harriet and her gang's strong perfume stuffing up in the corridor like always; and the sight of the white walls stained with who-knows-what from the science geeks.

The whole atmosphire was as normal as it is everyday. everyone in their own little cliqe's, chatting, gossiping etc. But  I just knew something was going to happen today, something that will change my life.

I smiled at the thought. It wasn't that I didn't have a good life. I do have a good life: loving family, amazing friends and award winning grades in school. But with all that, I still never felt like I belonged. It was as if there's a part of me that is to be uncovered, explored, found.

I gripped my books tighter in my arms and pressed them harder againt my chest. I pushed my glasses up on my nose, to stop them from nearly falling off. I looked down and kept walking.

" Marina!" A familiar voice shouted.

Stopping infront of my locker, I looked up and law Celine running up to me with a excited expression.

Her black hair was pulled up into a pony tail as it swayed from side to side. She was wearing a green top with black jeans and converse, Celine's typical style. She stopped half a meter away from me and grippped my shoulders puffing and laughing. I laughed and pushed away  a loose strand of her long wavy hair from her face.

" whats gone on now?" I smirked rolling my eyes. My best friend celine is always like this, always excited to share me some juicy news. Even if its news I didn't even WANT to know about.

After she finished her laughing fit, she shook me by my shoulders. Her brown eyes lit up with love and joy.

" I'm going to be a big sister!" She announced proudly.

I squealed with delight as I crushed Celine with a congratulation hug. " that's amazing news!" I said pulling away. " do you know if its going to be a girl or boy?"

She shrugged and shook her head. " my mum wouldn't tell me" she looked up at me with big hopeful eyes. " but I'm hopeing its going to be a girl"

" well I hope its a-"

Another familiar voice interupted me. " what's all the shouting and squealing for?"

I looked over Celine's shoulder seeing Benjamin, my other best friend. His short brown hair was tousled as his glasses were crooked. His green eyes sparkled ,behind his black framed glasses, as he smiled. He wore a typical t-shirt that had baggy jeans with converse. Sometimes I would tease my two best friends on how alike they dressed. I laughed to myself at the memory.

" cause I thought that if you girls wouldn't stop, that mt.everest would have a had an avalanche by now" Benjamin continuted smirking.

I smiled and playfully punched hum on his shoulder. He lifted his hands up in defeat chuckling. " hey, i was only joking."

As i opened my mouth to say something Harriet and her possy, went past perposily bumping into me.

" Loser" She coughed as they kept walking leaving a train of giggles.

I glared at her and straightened my glasses. Harriet is a blonde, green eyed bitch- the head bitch of school, to be more spesific. She's never liked me, I dont know why though. I've never done anything to her. It's just a complete mystery that i can't be bothered solving.

I turned back to my best friends ignoring the fact that Harriet was loudly gossiping about me just over my shoulder. I could hear every word she was saying, I was pretty sure she was just saying it outloud on purpose just so i could hear her. what a bitch.

"ugly face." "She'll never get a boyfriend." " what a bunch of losers" thats what they were saying. I shrugged it off and focused on the two people infront of me.

" What's her problem?" Celine said, annoyed, crossing her arms over her chest looking over her shoulder at Harriet and her possy.

" If I knew, then i would tell you" I replied opening my locker.

I pulled out my English books and shoved it into my bag. I glanced around my messy locker. there was papers, pens, pencils and assiments scattered everywhere. I placed the books in my hand into my locker and looked at my locker door smiling at the picture of my family.

It was taken five years ago when i was twelve. My mother was sitting besides me on the black couch with her arm drapped over my shoulder, Grandma Maybella sat on the otherside of me smiling brightly. my dad and grandpa Theadore was standing behind the couch smiling. my eyes glanced pass the photo and at the mirror placed below it. My sea-blue eyes seemed to gleam brightly, which was quiet unusual.

I looked exactually like my mother, except my eyes. My mother had brown eyes. I remember sitting besides Grandma Maybella when i was 5 years old, and her telling me that i'm the only one in our family with blue eyes like mine. I've always wondered about it. maybe i get it from a long lost reletive no one knew about? no one knew, or even cared.

i scrammled through my bag for my brush. i brushed my thick, wavy, dark brown curls as i listened into Celine and Benjamin's convosation. All i heard was " English class" " assiments due next week" " Mr. Darlings", I had zoned out the first minutes because i was lost in thought about my appearence- which was a first. never did i care about how i looked. Yep, this day is defiantly different.

pushing my glasses back onto my nose i put away the brush, closed my locker and turned to face the two leaning against my locker. the coldness of the metal seaped through my black top and made me shiver as i felt it against my skin.

Benjamin's green eyes raked up and down at me, as if he was checking me out. that's a first.

" What?"

He shook his head and scratched the back of his neck, slightly laughing, as his cheeks slowly redened with embarrasment. " nothing," He quickly said. his hand dropped to his side. " You just look...Some how...i dunno. Different?"

" Different how?"

He shrugged. " I'm not sure what it is, but you just seem different" He turned towards Celine. " Wouldn't you agree?"

Celine looked up and down at me the same way Ben did and nodded. " You're right Ben," she agreed. " She does look different, hmm" she lifted an eyebrow stroking her chin.

How did i look different? maybe they also noticed my eyes? or maybe this is just a part of that strange feeling i am having of something happening? i didnt know. All i knew was that i was getting creeped out with their staring.

" you guys can stop staring at me like weirdos now." i said, flattly.

They did as they were told and stopped staring and just laughed. Rolling my eyes i laughed with them.

Harriet and her possy, again, passed by laughing. " Finally!" she called out, " your laughing at how pathetic you all are!"

Anger and annoyanc bubbled within me, with out realising i turned to face her and yelled out. " No, Harriet. We're not laughing at how pathetic we are we're laughing at how your plastic surgen failed to accomplished his mission of fixing you're face!"

Harriet turned around and gaped at me.It wasn't normal for me to insult her, i usually just ignore her and move on, but not today. I looked at ben and celine, they two were gaping at me in shock. Harriet stomeped away obviously hurt by my comment.

I looked around the whole corridor, it had turned silent and everyone had turned away from their chatting and gaped at me. their gaze was unsettling. after seconds of awkward silence and staring the corridor was then filled with the normal noise of high school students chatting, gossiping etc.

" Who are you and what have you done to Marina?" Celine laughed.

I turned to face her my cheeks flushed with embarrasment. " i dont know what came over me" I confessed.

" marina," Ben began still wide-eyed, " you dont seem like yoursel-"

The bell rang cutting Ben off.

" Time for two periods of English with Mr.Darlings!" Celine exclaimed, rolling her eyes. she grabbed me by my wrist and lead me towards class. " See you at recess Ben!" She called over her shoulder.

I slipped my wrist out of her grip as we headed into the classroom. Mr.Darlings was facing the smart-board writing down things. We settled into our seats at the back.

The morning sun shone through the large metal framed windows, hitting the front row, while us at the back were stuck with barely any sun. The class room seats were set in this how you would say strict arrangment. Populars at the front with the sun, and losers at the back with none. Why do the populars go at the front, you ask? Well, this room is always freezing cold in the mornings so thats why they go at the front, so they get the warmth of the sun. But its worser for us in winter, which is only four months away.I always thought of the arrangment as a stupid way of saying ' because we're the popluar kids we get the warm sun, so head over to the back, you're not worthy of such warmth."

I placed my english books and note book onto my desk, and looked to myside at Celine. her books were settled on one side with her notebook in the middle.Mr. Darlings turned to face the class and smiled. He was a quiet handsom looking guy, for a thirty-year-old.

I'm pretty sure he's the teacher that you would call " Eye candy." Celine and i are probably the only girls in his class, that dont swoon over his handsome looks.

when ever he flips his straight black hair out of his face, all the girls will just melt. or even when he flashes his perfect white teeth, the girls would go crazy.

I just didnt understand why girls would just act like that just because a guy is good looking, like seriously? I'll probably never understand or will ever be like that.

My gaze went to Celine, she was fiddling with her pencil practically bored.

I looked around the room. Book shelves were filled from top-to-bottom with books on poety, shakespear, etc. The white walls were fading into more of a greyish white as the window frames started to rust. I never stopped to see how old the school was. with my chin on my palm i glanced over to the otherside of the room, as Mr. Darlings continued to speak about who knows what. This side of the room was worser. the paint started cracking and there were water patches in the roof of where the water would leak out when it rained. I thought they said that they were going to renovate this whole school, this year? Or maybe that was-

" Marina, please pay attention" Mr.Darlings voice ended my trail of thoughts. I nodded in responce and sighed. this is going to be a long lesson.

Hey, VJS! It's me again. I'm going to review what you added in here.

Content:

This is great. There isn't really anything I can say regarding the content, as there aren't any rules binding what you can and cannot write. You move along the chapter well and seem to be at a pretty even pace throughout it all. My favorite part would have to be the paragraph on the narrator's family and how she reflects on her differences in relation to them.

Grammar:

I'm just going to go part by part, pointing out certain things. I won't name every little nitpick, as that would take quite a long time that I don't necessarily have to spend at the moment. With that said...

I walked down the corridor of Lynrivers High School, passing the of bitches' and school jockeys, each all staring at me.

Each all sounds off to me, and, though I'm not sure whether it's grammatically accepted in other parts of the world, according to the ways I've been taught it isn't correct.

Also, bitches' should read bitches without the apostrophe. The way you put it at first would mean the possessive form, and, seeing as you have no direct object after it and appear to intend it as just a plural noun, you wouldn't need that here.

Today seemed like a different day; as if something extraordinary was going to happen.

You don't need the semi-colon here. A comma would suffice just fine. The first part is an independent clause, while the second is dependent, requiring an independent to stand.

Everything about today seemed different, well except for the smell of Harriet and her gang's strong perfume...

Here, it would be the opposite. You could use a semi-colon or you could place a period after different and capitalize the w in well, going from there.

From there on out, you just have a few typos or things mentioned in the review below.

Hope this helps!

Ahaha if you look at the previous comments it'll probably make no sense with the story Above. Let me just say that I kinda edited my story and before it was only like a small paragraph or so of a scene i was thinking of using in this story. But then i decided to change it from a scene i was thinking of putting into my story to the actual beginning of my story. I know it makes no sense ahahah silly me ^^"

Hey, VictoriaJS! Welcome to YWS!

Firstly, I'd like to ask if this is a chapter or just an excerpt for your novel? It has potential, but seems a little short to be the former. You don't give much insight into what you're going for either; it just seems that you're starting something with several options of where to go.

With that said, let's get down to the grammar.

" I swear Jonathon, " She shook her head.

It should read "I swear, Jonathon," she shook her head.

When directly addressing someone, you set their name off with commas. Without the punctuation, it shows that the speaker might be talking about said person instead of to them. You punctuate your dialogue pretty well, especially in this part, but the pronoun following in the phrase after shouldn't be capitalized unless it is a proper noun, like someone's name.

Jonathon laughed and grinned. " Still...

In this, you just need to make the period at the end of "grinned" into a comma, seeing as Jonathon goes on to speak in the next piece of dialogue.

Susannas face started to redden as she clunched her first to her side in anger.

This should read Susanna's face started to redden as she clenched her fist to her side in anger.

Just some typos. Easily fixed.

In the next paragraph, "inbetween" should be two words or connected by a hyphen. They modify each other, but aren't one word.

I really like what you say in the next paragraph. Great imagery. But in the next piece of dialogue, you should state that it's Jonathon who's speaking. It might confuse the reader if you don't. The last piece of dialogue should be punctuated with a comma instead of a period as well. You don't have to separate the sentences after it, but it is suggested.

Other than that, this is a great start. Good job.

Thanks for you advice. I am just new to this, so i really appreciate your help. I'll be sure to fix this. ^-^

Oh and well its just a scene I'm thinking of putting into my novel. It's about Angles and the elements really. So there are these 4 angles that govern the earth as the angles of the elements. They've been living on earth for many of century's, always being reincarnated. But in one century the angel of water disappears and can't be found. People think that the reincarnation was broken and that she is gone forever, but The angle is actually living a normal 16-year-old mundane life. Her sisters( the other angels) and the secret group called " The Circle" ( there a group that helps and protects the angles. Its a group made of mainly humans) haven't given hope. some still believe that the element of water is out there somewhere. Eventually The angel of water meets her sisters. Its only a brief description. I'm really bad at explaining things hehe ^-^ So it basically turns into this whole thing of discovering how and why the angel of water disappeared, The angel of water discovering who she really is, etc. Its still in progress. ^.^

It's very interesting. I'd be glad to see this develop along the way. Send me a PM when you post another bit?
And you aren't bad at explaining things. : )

Sure! and thanks ^^. I actually have this scene written already, I'm thinking of putting it for the start. My word program isnt working so i had to type it into word pad, so there are alot of mistakes. I haven't had the time to proof-read it. But i can be happy to send you it. And you could give me some ideas or advice ^^
