The Next Ancient World by Jennifer Michael Hecht

This is a book of poems, actually. Hecht is one of my favorite poets! Everything is very cynical and very off the wall. It's kind of hard to follow because it's so flighty. The references are hard to piece together and it definitely takes more than one read.

Her poem "September" was in a book I read before called something like "Poems to Live By" and that made me curious so here I am with The Next Ancient World

It won the Tupelo Press Judge's Prize in Poetry, the Poetry Society of America's Norma Farber First Book Award and Forward Magazine's Book of the Year.

Has anyone else read it? Has anyone else heard of Hecht?
