Hey guys! Something I wrote a long time ago in seventh grade! Hope you like it ![]()
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Push
Pull
Crashing down
The waves break the shore and silence
The bubbled tips on gallons of ink
Staining the world
Shaping it
We all go back for more
It pulls you in
It pushed you out
You soar to shore
Getting sand burns on your ankles
And going back for more
The captivating tide
The moon and its ways
The way the water seems to know
Exactly where it's meant to go
And they still come back for more
The salty tang
As you go under
A split second when
You're not sure which way is up
But you don't find it
It finds you
The air you long for
When you don't need it just yet
But you still go back for more
The world of seas
And oceans and lakes
The deep dark blues
and grays of the rivers
It pulls you it
And it drives you out
But we still go back for more
I mean obviously you have written this a while ago, so the flow and other parts of the poem are not amazing but I like the imagery and the repetition that you have included in this poem, maybe you could re-work it for now and then see what the community thinks?
Like the last poster said, there was a lot of imagery in here! I enjoyed the poem, but in the last stanza where it says the waves push you out, I find that true only to a certain degree... For me, I get pushed so far, then pulled back in, farther in this time. I wish the waves pushed me out; it would be safer to go in the ocean. Very good job for a seventh grader, that's for sure. I didn't like my stuff from back then XD.
Well, to be honest, I liked it and didn't like it at the same time. For some reason the poem didn't feel like it had a very strong flow to me. That's probably just because you wrote it a while ago, right? Yet, I still liked how you chose to descibe the waves, very good imagery.
