In all honesty, I'm not sure whether I'll ever be able to repress my feelings for you, but that's unimportant because I haven't told you anything of it.
After all, we're friends, and I value our friendship above all else. I also cherish her friendship just as much, and I would not want to sacrifice it.
However, every time I try to get rid of this awful feeling, it comes back when you just do as much as look at me.
It's far more awful because I can't indulge in it; after all, you have her, and it's not fair for me to ruin everything for a few fleeting moments of happiness, only for you to abandon me when I get too much.
I am unsure of what I see in you, but I have never known much about anything, so I am not surprised.
I hope you know that I wish you and her the best, but there are times when I wish it was just you and me.
I'll look for you in every man I meet, but it won't be the same as how I feel when I see you.
Perhaps one day I will meet someone who will help me forget about this unrequited love, but for now, I will treasure the memories we shared in my heart and soul.
So please do not forget me.
And lastly, I have a question for you: was it just friendship, or did you ever see more?
Yours sincerely.

I will look for you in every man I meet... This line says it all for me. It's the hardest of things when you feel love slipping through your fingertips, but I believe everything happens for a reason. A year from now, who knows where things will be. The question at the end leaves doubt in your mind to believe or not to believe there was ever something more. In all honesty, you deserve more than standing in a corner wishing for someone to notice you, let alone love you. Love yourself first, and the right people and events will fall into play. I wish you the very best.
Thank you; this really helped <3
Aww I hope so. Any time
Hey there! Plume here, with a review!
This was a very poignant letter; I know I've definitely been in the position the speaker is in before. If this is written from the heart, trust me, it gets better -- this was literally me when I was fifteen. Unrequited love is always rough, but writing is an excellent way to channel those feelings.
You captured a lot of raw emotion in this piece, so well done. It seems like you tapped into some powerful feelings. The conflict of the speaker is displayed really clearly. You did a great job of showcasing that painful longing but also that suppression that comes when two friends are in love with the same person.
That being said, I'm not sure I would classify this work as a poem, necessarily? I think the makings of one are there, but I feel like it just needs a bit more creativity in its presentation. If you decide to revisit this piece, I think taking risks in the ways you present these ideas, feelings, and narratives could really elevate it to the next level. Maybe that means incorporating more figurative language, maybe it means playing with word placement on the page, maybe it means introducing elements of rhyme. Who knows? I would encourage you to take another look at this! There's a lot of promise ^-^
Still, it's possible this was just a way to work through some feelings, which is also very very valid. In that case, wishing you peace and happiness sometime soon.
Specifics
I liked this line a lot! Little asides like this helped characterize the relationship between the speaker and the addressee, and without knowing too much about them, we get a fairly clear picture of the kinds of people they are.
Overall: nice job! I hope to read more of your poetry soon; until next time <3
