What If...

PreviousNext

What if...

...there were no quiet people and

everyone stood up for themselves and

life as we know it ceased to exist because of the loudness that surrounded us.

What if...

...there were no loud people and

the world was left with no imagination to share and

life as we know it ceased to exsist because of the silence that surrounded us.

What if...

...the sun  dies out tomorow and

everything would be left to freeze and

life as we know it ceased to exist because of the darkness that surrounded us.

What if...

...education becomes extinct and

we are all left to fend for ourselves and

life as we know it ceased to exist because of the ignorance that surrounded us.

"What if",my dear, is just a theory. You shouldn't believe me next time...

Hello!

This will be probably my last review for tonight! I'm just gonna make it quick as possible.

I love everything about this poem. I know people keep thinking about a lot of what ifs from these past few years of modern life. But I am glad you express that what ifs are just some theory that are so negative that's why we are being discourage. We always thought this will happen when all along this is just on our mind. Oh people are so imaginary.

People can relate to this thing. And wow well written about this thing. I love it! It describe people personality actually especially the negative side. Bravo for that! I am one of the people of the world who keep thinking negative and somehow I manage to get relate by this and inspire.

I even create my personal quote about that:

"Stop Asking what ifs and start believing."

Yep that. It's somehow related to the poem itself.

Wonderful! Thanks for the poem we appreciate this so much!

Happy review day by the way!

Sorry about this...I'm In a hurry because the people inside the house already want me to sleep. So yeah. Bye!

Hello TealElephant

You're poem is thought provoking. I interpreted the first stanza as a suggestion to appreciate the balance as a result of the differences between people. People may perceive quietness as a less desirable characteristic than being outgoing or assertiveness but if no one would back down things might be like the wild west with bullets shooting everywhere. So, the different personalities help to balance each other. The second stanza offers a similar scenario but deals with the sun and darkness. I felt that the sun personifies the loud people while the darkness was a metaphor for the quiet people. Again, it seemed that the idea of balance was being stressed. If there were no loud people then the world would be a dull place. I was unsure about the third stanza but perhaps education is a metaphor for the knowledge of balance and that people must educate others about the differences that we have as human beings.

Thanks for sharing your intake on the poem!

I really enjoyed this piece. This poem really made me think "what if". It is really interesting to have a taste of what your opinion would be like if life ceased to exist. Please keep up the good work! I would love to read more poems like this. :)

Thanks! I'm glad the poem made you think "what if..."

Hey there, Teal! Sounds of Silence here to do a review... I think.

Anyway!

I really enjoyed this poem. Some might glance at it, read it, and go 'well, that might never happen.' But it does make you think. Especially the first and last parts, about standing up and education disappearing. It's a pretty horrifying thought. Hell, it's all pretty horrifying when you really look into it.

Of course, I think that comes with the territory of being a writer. Thinking about things...

Keep up the great work.

Hi. Lau here with a comment, no review ( to great for a review )

I love this! Can you do more of these lines? It was intense and stood out. The tittle grabbed me and the text didn't let go! Great job. Except a few grammar things, which even I have problems with, It's great. It was thrilling and had beauty. Perfect! PM me when you write a new story, very happy to read it!

Hello TealElephant,

Spelling!:
"CEASED to exist, not sized or siezed! That kind of took away from the work for me.
and "themselves" not them self.

The imagery in this piece however is really powerful, the sun dying out, just in a few lines, created a brilliantly eerie, apocalyptic atmosphere, which was fantastic in this poem.

And the use of repetition with "Life as we know it ceased to exist because of the loudness/silence/ignorance that surrounded us" is just perfect to tie the whole piece together. I love it!

I liked the subject for this work, trying to convey the endless possibility so closely linked with those two simple words "what if?" I actually love it, there is just so much within the confines of that one question.

Please keep writing, I'll be staying tuned for more in the future! :)

Omg I didn't even see the spelling error! I will change that right away! Thank u
