I’m sorry

What do those two words mean?
That you’re regretful, resentful, or don’t know what to do?
I think those two little words
As meaningful as they can be
Aren’t just enough for what we mean for them to be

I’m means I am

But what does sorry really and truly mean?
The dictionary says it means “full of sorrow” or “regret”
Is this the meaning we really and truly feel?

Or is this just words we throw around a lot?
With no meaning
No thought,
And just dish out a lot?

Or do we really and truly feel
The sorrow and regret deep in our heart?
Because I’m sorry doesn’t change it,
Or help with the damage deep down in your heart
What do you say then
When you really and truly feel?

I’m sorry is not really just enough for you to feel
So why not a , “Please forgive me ?”
Or an “ I really and truly understand your grief and sorrow”
No matter what we say,
even from the bottom of our heart
Can never really repair what was taken from your heart

Why say I’m Sorry ?
‘cause what if it really isn’t your fault?
No one tells you the grief on their part
That they themselves feel from the bottom of their heart
Your heart, their heart , the bottom of your heart

No words can replace a loved one
No matter how we try, we’ll never be able to understand
The way pain goes through a mourner’s heart

So even though these words are meaningless
They’ll just have to make do,
What others could I use?
