* Prologue
The full moon, it sends shivers down people's spines, makes their fingers shake, causing messy handwriting when signing a contract. They bar the doors, block the windows, and get the chimney blocked. During the night of the full moon, you go outside, you don't come back in. It doesn't frighten me anymore, I used to be, but that is the past, what's gone is gone, what lost is lost, it won't come back. So, to avenge the lost, I crouch in the undergrowth, watching, waiting, anticipating, for midnight. As I crouch there, I know, deep down, that tonight is the last, for me. I have sent those I care about far away, far from the danger. If I could, I would send the town, too risky, much too risky. By next month, this town will be forgotten, obliterated, rubble. Because of me, because of my absence this town will be eaten, searched, when they do not find it, they will move on...for the ones I sent away.
Lost in thought, I nearly miss the sound I've been waiting for, the howl, its midnight, show-time. The howl is distant to people, and yet close for me, so, so very close. I shiver as I listen for the next howl, when it comes it is abruptly cut off. Followed by a yelp a few seconds later, which is followed by a dreadful snarling, my ears have been stretched to their limit though. Silence, there shouldn't be silence, there should be a code! Where's the code?! I tense, then force myself to relax, I shouldn't waste precious energy. I turn my attention North, where they normally arrive, I crouch lower, then wonder, I turn South just in time to see red, glaring eyes in the pitch black, they start close to the ground, then rise. I realize too late what it is, what is happening, what would happen. My thoughts were shattered as I was slammed to the ground, my usual snarl turned into a shriek as I felt how heavy and strong my opponent was. We wrestled around in the tall grass, flattening it, I smell the air and realize that my opponent in female. She has me by my throat, and I'm slicing through flesh with my claws, satisfaction fills me as I feel the flesh rip beneath my claws, and the warm blood begin to flow. She cannot bite into my neck, she is getting frustrated as she snaps over and over again, but all I receive is a mere bruise. While she is occupied with that, I take a chance to tear at her soft-skinned underbelly and find protection there; there is the protection my kind use. It disgusts me, infuriates me, and confuses me. I slither out of her grasp and back up trying to figure out who I'm fighting and what she looks like so I can get a good attacking point. Nothing, I'm shocked that nothing's there, so I lunge forward and take a snap, just for good measure, CLANG. My teeth are vibrating; she's wearing a bloody helmet. Suddenly I'm lifted, swinging in the air, by my neck, my weight is now against me, her claws slowly sink into my neck, and it's painful, so very painful, because I'm not used to it. Suddenly we're moving, at inhuman speed, but then I remind myself that this creature is far from human, and yet, not very far. While she's running she's digging her claws in, I close my eyes against the pain, determined to not make a sound, to not give her the satisfaction of knowing what I'm feeling, which is sadness and pain. I struggle but it's in vain, I cannot make a dent while I am elevated. Suddenly my head is slammed into the point of rock which is sticking out at an odd angle. I open my eyes in shock and find that I am far from home. I get slammed a second time, my eyes are wide open, my mind racing with all the memories. I know that I won't feel pain much longer. My skull has to be cracked, and my eyesight is failing rapidly. She slams my head a third time. I'm sorry, I think before another smash against the rock. Drashan, I tried to protect you. Take him and protect him; protect Drayden.
At all costs.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night(whichever one it is in your part of the world),
Hi! I'm Knight Hardy here on a mission to ensure that all works on YWS has at least two reviews. You will probably never see this but....Imma do this anyway.
Anyway let's get right to it,
Alrighty, this was an intriguing piece right here, definitely one that's quite fitting for a prologue with the kind of scenes that we witness here...but before I dive into the specifics of the content here, I have to point out a bit of a formatting issue and that is the fact that this is at the moment a very large single paragraph here...and that isn't the easiest of things to read not to mention it can interfere with the flow. This is basically one single fight scene with bits of padding on either end so it surprisingly still works as a single paragraph without messing with the flow but it would still be much better to split this up into paragraphs.
Onto the content, I loved the fight scene, there's a really rhythm to it and you can see how this character is unprepared and taken by surprise from the initial blow to the very last one, you can see someone desperately fighting to stay alive and attempting in a fairly unsuccessful endeavor to harm the opponent here. You can sense there's quite a lot at stake and the end suggests this was a bit of a sacrifice there...in an attempt to protect someone that's perhaps close to them.
Overall, its makes for a very solid prologue here, certainly something that would catch my attention quite well and make me want to read on here, it mostly only has that slight paragraphing issue.
Aaaaand that's it for this one.
As always remember to take what you think was helpful and forget the rest.
Stay Safe
