The Meaning Of Life

The Meaning Of Life

Life is enjoying every day as if it were your last

Life is wasting all your days away

Life is getting up every morning and going to bed at night

Life is pulling an all nighter to study for a test

Life is breathing in air and letting it out

Life is experiencing something that takes your breath away

Life is getting rejected by someone you like

Life is spending the rest of your days with someone you love

Life is having a great day

Life is having a good cry every now and then

Life is getting older and acquiring more knowledge every day

Life is wishing you were younger again

Life is remembering good times you have had in the past

Life is looking out for the future

Life is a thing of beauty

Life can get ugly sometimes

Life can be so many things

Life can only happen to a person once

Life offers everyone a chance to live

Life can be unfair sometimes

Life is the things, people, and places that you love

Life is the same boring routine you dread going through every day

Life is strong and resilient, able to overcome many obstacles

Life is fragile

Life is meaningless

Life is full of goals and dreams that drive us to push through all our limits

Life is full of everything you ever wanted

Life is nothing you ever hoped it could be

Life is a set number of days

Life is eternal

Life is full of memories

Life will eventually be forgotten

Life can be everything and life can be nothing, but most of all, life is whatever you think it is. After all, life is what you make of it.

Life can be so many things

This is a little broad when you have already said so many lines about what you think life is. Maybe take this line out, or put it at the beginning.

Life is getting up every morning and going to bed at night

This is a bit plain maybe add some more details about getting up in the morning or going to bed at night.

Life is eternal

I see how you are trying to contradict every line, but maybe reword this one. Maybe say life can seem to be eternal or life may feel long. I like the idea but maybe make it a little less unrealistic.

I really like how every line you say almost contradicts the line before it showing the ups and downs life can have. Overall, pretty unique poem that portrays life pretty accurately.

Hi there, SinisterPotatoe! DrFeelGood here to review your poem. It's been a really long time since I have reviewed anything, so apologies in advance if I sound redundant.

So right off the bat the title grabbed my attention. Not necessarily for a good reason. 'What life means' 'my definition of life' 'the meaning of life' kind of titles have all been done before, many many times. My first instinct was that this poem, going by its title, will be a 'been-there-seen-that' work. Unfortunately, I felt the same after reading your poem.

Now, writing about life or the 'purpose' of life isn't necessarily bad. Yes, it is a cliched thought, but if you spice it up, people are still willing to invest their time and read your work. The first thing which I personally detested was the 'live life as if it's your last day' beginningl It's kind of a seriously done-to-death cliche as opposed to your second line which I found to be cheerfully honest. When the first line hits the wrong note, the overall impact of the poem is greatly affected. And it did, at least for me.

The second point I would like to make is, your writing style. The flow of this poem was rather tacky and there was little coherence in your flow of thoughts. I like the ambition, but the directness of this poem didn't engage me for a long time. Also there were some occasions where you contradicted yourself intentionally but that didn't enhance the overall impact.

On the positive side, I liked your last 3 lines. 'Life will eventually be forgotten' is a thought not many people express. Also the make your life part, though cliched, made me feel good. I liked how you ended it without infusing too much melodrama, keeping it fairly simple. The overall message which you were trying to convey is true; one really needs to ponder over it!

Overall, the length and cliches made this a bumpy ride for me, but never the less your message and the slick ending did bring a smile to my face! Keep writing!
