Not Ordinary.

In Short stories.

The night was consuming the light of day, shadows sank into the depths of hell. Screeching for more time within the world of humanity. The sun drowned within the sea of black, ending the warmth of the golden beams of light. A silver light filled the night sky, white spots of gleaming glitter was scattered upon the black surface of what use to be blue with white, cotton clouds. I was seventeen at the time, immature and stupid. Though redeemed as smart and wise, just because of the few decisions I have made throughout my lifetime. You see, I am no ordinary person...I am not a person at all. But a monster concealed behind a cage. A silver cage secured with a black lock. That black lock was my heart, and the cold, steel bars my organs.

I would have expected people patrolling the streets, after the long string of disappearances; you would think people would react upon it. With a yawn, my eyes darted around the silent corners of the worn out street. The smell of fresh air falling into my nose, as I continued on my way to Stacy's house. A place where I could actual be myself without being judged.

"Anna? You there?" I rolled my dull grey eyes, hearing that high pitched voice flow through the ear piece into my own being. The idiot behind the voice was known as the Prince of Cats. I don't know why, and it is best if I didn't. "Annnnnaaaa?" He singed. "ANNA!" He yelled, I smirked and finally replied back.

"Yeah? I am here Andrew." I could hear his heart pounding against his chest, knowing he almost had a heart attack. I don't see how we are related to one another. I mean, I am a bit too smart for him to be my brother.

"WHY IN THE HELL DIDN'T YOU ANSWER ME THE FIRST TIME!?" I had to quickly move the ear piece out of my ear, so his voice wouldn't rupture my ear drum. I stopped within the middle of my route. "ANSWER ME WHEN I AM TALKING TO YOU! I MEAN, I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD FOR A MINUTE!" He screamed, I stood there waiting for him to get over his little tantrum. I stared blankly into the darkness, a streetlight being my flashlight ahead. Snow swirled around my slender being, as the wind howled to the moon. I heard a rustling in the ear piece, then a horrified scream. At that moment, I intervened.

"Listen here, you can have my brother. Just to show how much I care. Though, I am a woman of revenge, So think wisely." I got nothing said back, instead the line went dead. My pink, smooth lip parted, my tongue gliding the chapped creases of them. I placed the ear piece back in my ear, this was how I gathered up feedback. And if someone got Andrew, they would come after me next. And well, who wouldn't want a ear piece to keep for themselves? I tucked my pale hands back into the pockets of my black leather coat. And began walking again, of course I didn't head home. Because the chances of someone still being there waiting is one out of a hundred. Not in my favor.

My black steel toed boots plowed through the banks of white snow, my black skin tight jeans becoming soaked up to my knees. I had to spit strands of my brown hair every now and again because they kept slipping into my mouth. Being cold-blooded I could care less what happened to my brother. Though I have a new goal to reach, A new mission to fulfill. Can you guess what it might be? Right, finding that little Brat.

Stopping at the corner of Happy and Never, I inhaled the cold, crisp air. Finding a black mass blocking my way. "Hey, move it." I said to it, seeing it tilt it's head as if it didn't catch what I said. "MOVE IT!" I said again, louder. In the snap of a finger, the black mass stood tall in front of me. I was surprised that I couldn't see a face, it might have been because of the lighting around here. A rather large hand wrapped around my throat, lifting me from the pure white ground. My nails clawed at the hand, as I struggled to break free from this hold. Though the more I struggled, the tighter the grip got.

My face began shifting into a series of colors: purple, blue, red...All the colors that indicated close signs of suffocation. Blood seeped into the under tips of my nails, as my scratches were ones that resembled the cuts of a normal dagger. Gashes appeared on it's cold hands, its knuckles painted with a sinister red. I tried sending my foot into the pelvis area, but considering that all I see is black; I didn't know where it was located.

Those blistering red eyes glared into my soul. The curved fangs glimmering under the silver light of the moon. My grey eyes widen in terror. Then everything ended with a blink of an eye, it's right hand penetrated through my chest...Shattering my rib cage and breaking through the back. My heart beating in his hand, as blood fell from my mouth like a waterfall. My blood painted the civil hands of this creature before dressing the white grounds. With a forceful pull of it's arm, I fell to the ground.

"She was eliminated." A masculine voice said, the broad figure hovering over me. His biceps twitching, as his tongue lapped up my own blood. Savoring the very taste of it. I heard the beep of a call ending. Then he crouched over me, turning my head so my eyes could focus on him. "Look at you, you look like a sad puppy. A very sad puppy." He then leaned down, his thick black locks tickling the very skin on my face. His cold, soft lips connected with mine. His tongue pushing through mine, forcing my mouth winder open. Then I felt it, the sharp curves of fangs eating away at my tongue. The bitter taste of blood filled my mouth, chocking me.

"A kiss makes everything better does it?" He whispered while removing his lips off mine, a blood drop fell from the right corner of his lips. His red glowing eyes staring coldly at me. I blinked once or twice, before my eyes finally closed and my body fell limp. I don't remember much from that night. But I did feel him lifting me into his arms. His kiss of death lingered upon my lips, as his bitter blood rusted my silver bars. My heart perishing upon the ground, as if explaining the black lock being unlocked with a simple key. No longer part of humanity, I thrived with enhanced power. I owe everything to him for breaking me free from my silver cage.

"Andrew, you should be smacked. No matter how many times I tell you, you just don't learn!" I yelled in frustration, seeing the blood paint the walls of this girl's room. He smiled at me innocently, blood painting his pale, pink lips. I looked around, impressed with his attack. But the stench of blood was not helping with my vegan sense. I suppose savoring the blood of innocent animals would come later in the night. Right now, I needed to stay here and keep a watchful eye on Andrew.

"I couldn't help it Anna, she was pretty and her blood was just so good!" He exclaimed, licking the blood off his fingers and lips. I glared at him, not finding his excuse intimidating at all. Marcus walked up behind me, giving me a slap on the butt. I yelped, immediately reaching my hands behind me and letting them rest against my butt. He smirked, and laid a sinful kiss on my cheek. Andrew gave off a face of disgust.

"Relax Anna, he was only having a bite to eat. Poor kid must be hungry." I rolled my eyes, and looked away. Hearing the slurping sounds of the two cleaning out the crimson colors of the mauled child size body. I gaged a bit inside my mouth, just hearing them make those sounds. I climbed out the window of this house of innocence, and fell from the roof to the ground. I sat on the curb of the driveway, waiting for them to finish. You see, I am not an ordinary girl. But myself, either if I am mortal or immortal. Nothing can change me from being me.

Vampires control the night, humans become unwilling sacrifices to our uncontrollable hunger. I however, am not like no one else. I feat upon the blood of animals, due to a vow I made within the very beginning of my rebirth. My job is to spare innocent lives, and regret the recreation of myself. People might think it is a amazing life, running around in the night like wild animals, and not giving a damn in the world. Well it is the opposite, not only because do you forget what it was like to be kissed by the sun; or to be outdoors during the day. "You forget being a human all together." I finished my thought out loud. The wind flying past my hair, as my eyes closed slowly.

"Try to remember Anna. Just try to remember." I encouraged myself, wishing for a memory to materialize in my empty head...But all I got was a meaningless spark of light. As if my mind's database was shocked. My eyes reopened to the sounds of a screaming woman, at the moment I got up. Dusting myself off, I went towards the ear-bleeding scream. Hoping to find someone else who experienced the same cause of death as me. "We the vampires, rule the night." I repeated with the voice in my head. "No mercy, No pain, just endless hunger." My body faded within the darkened shadows, making me one with the unending night.

First I want to say that I absolutely loved the imagery you used it the first paragraph, it was really good. Actually, your descriptions throughout the whole story were great. There were only a few problems.

First, you originally described her eyes as being dull gray but then later described them as green.

Second, when she said "ANDREW! ANDREW! IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, SAY SOMETHING!" It just didn't feel like the reaction I thought she would have since you mostly displayed the narrator as being pretty apathetic and not even really caring about her brother.

And the ending part felt a bit confusing. Was there some POV switch or something, because you made it seem like the narrator died so if she didn't you need to describe why, or if there was a POV switch, then you need something to show it otherwise it's confusing.

Over all though, I thought this was a pretty good story. Keep up the good work! :)

Interesting story, will you continue? It is quiet good.

I enjoyed the first bit of paragraph and all it's visual pleasures. You have a silver tongue. I particularly enjoyed the last few sentences, "A silver cage secured with a black lock. That black lock was my heart, and the cold, steel bars my organs."

Are vampires a normal thing in her world? It almost seemed, from the ear pieces and all, that she was expecting them to come after her. That she and her brother were hiding out from them, maybe in plain sight. Or were they already vampires and just hiding from other vampires or vampire hunters? If they weren't already vampires, did the same guy who attacked Anna attack Andrew? I also thought that her being a vegan vampire was an interesting twist. Does she just not eat or does she drink other things? If you aren't thinking about furthering the story, this part is not important to cover but if you are it might be a good thing to think about..

Overall, I loved the story and the odd romantic bit that you slid in there. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the remarkable review. I was planning on continuing with the story, but I figured I would like some reviews first before beginning another section. Those questions you mentioned did help me to think, because at first while I was writing this piece I though "should I add more detail to the whole vegan thing? Or would it be too much?" So I do thank you for the boost.

Again, I thank you for your honesty about my creation. It really means a lot to me.
