Tree House (rest of chaper 5)

"Mom, can we please wait just a little longer? Please, mom, please..." I pleaded. "You can't miss anymore school, Melissa. It'll be ok. Just be yourself, you'll make plenty of friends." She replied and started walking off. I knew once she did that, she was leaving it at that. I stood for a minute, heart pounding. It wasn't friends I was worried about. It was the fact that I'm going to be 'new girl' and everybody is going to stare at me and try to talk to me. I'm extremely shy. This isn't good... I run to the front door and look out the window. I see mom's car pulling away.

I wait until I see her car go completely down the road and go outside. I need somewhere to be. I don't want to be here anymore.... I want dad to be here. I want to be back home, with my friends. I end up running... Running and running until I reach the forest area. I stand in front of it for a second, and make my way through the trees. I look down surprised to see my line of dirt still there. I follow it to the tree house, stopping at the ladder. I look at my hand, still wrapped in that guy's shirt.

I climb the ladder, inspecting every wooden panel before I put my hand on it. i make my way to the top. Because of that day's incident, I didn't get to explore it. It's two story? Wow. I go up the stairs. Whoever built this this house was pretty good at building. It's not just two a story. It's a three story. Now that I think about it, these trees are pretty tall. I go up the second bit of stairs, and I'm amazed at what I see.

It's a completely flat surface, with a full view of the sky. "This is going to be awesome when the sun sets." I say to myself smiling. "Oh, it is. It's beautiful." I hear a familiar voice. Once again, I almost scream. "You really need to stop doing that.' I say. He smiles. "Somehow I knew I'd find you here." I turn away from him. "You going to school tomorrow?" He asks coming to stand beside me. "Tuesday." I say. He looks at me, but I don't look back. "Hey, I realized that I don't your name yet." He says. "Oh. It's Melissa." He studies me for a second. "You don't look like a Melissa." He  chuckles. "My name's Justin."

You'd better wise up, Pony... you get tough like me and you don't get hurt. You look out for yourself and nothing can touch you, man.
