This Hole You've Put Me In

I keep listening to you! Why won't you listen to me too?

I keep pouring out my heart for you but why are you so cruel?

When you say sorry I give you the benefit of the doubt

The next day I go down and I see you going out

Why do you have to go and make me feel worthless?

Am I not enough for you to make my life such a mess?

I gave you what you needed, my love, my time, my soul

Then I see you with another, it's like you've put me in a hole.

How can I ever get out? You made me feel this way.

I feel crestfallen enough to just cry my days away.

Who are you to do this to me?

A spoiled child breaking a toy with glee.

I'm broken, I'm torn, I'm tired.

I don't have enough strength even for ire.

I'll stay in my hole, safeguarding my soul.

At least for now I won't feel like I'm on fire.

This is the bittersweet tragedy that really resonates with a lot of us. It's tough to say which one of us would be the writer if this was from my last relationship, all the feels! Really great flow and structure that goes with the pain, it's that constant. Not too overwhelming or understated, it's a matter of facts. Feelings are very real and we go into some very deep holes. Good vocabulary too! It's been awhile since I've seen 'crestfallen' outside my own work! I feel for you in this and I hope if you're in any holes, you manage to get out of it with enough experience to get help yourself and others out of any other holes.
Peace and blessings,
-J.T.

Wow, this was a really nice poem! You can feel the desperation of the speaker and the pain they are experiencing. It was a really nice poem, and you did a good job with the rhyming. I noticed you broke your AA, BB, CC etc. rhyme scheme in the last couple of lines, but I actually like it :)
I know grammar doesn't really apply to poetry, and that it is up to the writer on grammar decisions, but personally I would put a comma in the second line so it would read "I keep pouring out my heart for you, but why are you so cruel?" because for me it flows better. Now of course, this is just a suggestion; if you don't want any grammar to apply here, that's totally fine!
"Who are you to do this to me?
A spoiled child breaking a toy with glee."
For me, these two lines broke the flow of this poem. Since all of your previous lines were longer, these lines jumped out to me and seemed abrupt. If you want, you can add a bit more, especially to the former line.
Overall, this poem is quite beautiful and painful. I enjoyed reading it, and I can't wait to read future works of yours. Keep on writing! :)

I am glad you enjoyed the poem, Starlit! Thank you for the advice and yes, I do like grammared poetry so I'll take your advice to heart! I'll keep on writing and improving, thank you for the review! <3

Aw of course :)

‘Sup, AngelLily here
Okay, so, I like how you rhymed. Also, I like how you made it relatable to the reader, I just love stuff like that. The flow of the poem and the words is amazing. The structure is also very good. You used good adjectives, and I could envision most of the stuff you were saying.
Great job, talented writer!
Write on!

Thank you for the kind words! Really, this is poem is really just me ranting my troubles away at the encouragement of a friend and while the wounds are still fresh, it's bearable.
Once again, thank you so much for the review! <3 <3 <3

Hi again darling !
While I am reading this poem of you, I felt I am awaking the fear in my heart, the fear from being unloved, broken, messed and left.. It is a huge thing that can't be described easily.
I liked your poem so much. It is sad and touching. i am waiting for your next work with a big patience ^^

Hi. I'm Shay. I will be reviewing this poem.

This poem is beautifully tragic. The effects of abuse, specifically in a romantic relationship and being used, have come alive. Cheating is horrible and damaging. The speaker is heartbroken and feels like the one cheating is "a spoiled child break a toy," the toy being the speaker, "with glee."

This is reminiscent of an iconic song from my favorite musical. Burn, if you've of it. I even see the subtle reference at the end: "At least for now I won't feel like I'm on fire."

I like the repetition of the word soul.

Good job. You have great potential.

Thank you, Shay.
And yes, I'm also a sucker for Hamilton and with this poem, I guess you could say that I'm "erasing myself from his narrative".
Again, thank you for the review.
