Upon the shores of endless green
Beside the foaming sapphire sea
My family dwelt in tranquil rest
For thirty years of joyfulness
But tidings, rank with evil news
Disturbed me from my blissful sleep
And Father charged me with the path
Of tireless travels ’cross the sea
So waves that smote eternal sand
They bore me far from cherished ones
From fragrant love to weary pain
From gentle peace to loneliness
And now I stumble haltingly
Upon the road marked out for me
Until my father calls me home
Until his voice revives my soul
My flesh is worn, my pulse subsides
And Death’s dark claws fold over me
And down I plunge to somber depths
Through swirling mists of emptiness
But as I lie in seething haze
A distant whisper reaches me
And draws me up from hopeless void
To sunwashed cloud and azure sky
My spirit soars into the arms
Of One who loves, of One who cares
Another Father welcomes me
To shores of true, eternal green
(This is another poem for one of my stories, but I'm not happy with it. I feel like it could be a whole lot better!)
