Attention

Attention is the very essence of every sentient life's sanity,
There is not one single day when you do not want it,

It is a feeling that you never want to let go of,
It is a treasure that you want to steal of someone,
It is a craving that you can never have enough of,

Does a cat not wished to be stroked?
Does a brother not want to better than the other?
Do you not wish to be known as your dream, ambition or life goal?

The fact that this site exists is because of this one essence,
The fact you are reading this is fuelling me with the attention I crave,
The fact that you might review is making me more want more,

For every story that wants to be published,
For every author that wants to be heard,
For every click that is clicked upon their work,
They will always want more...

Their ambitions, dreams, life goals are all dependent on this most important concept to life's sanity,
You.

Good morning/afternoon! I am 567ajt, and I am here to review this poem for you today.

I must say off the bat that I don't know why this doesn't have more views. This is amazing! And here is why:

1) The words you use to describe the central theme are carefully chosen, and are the exact right words to use.

2) You have a theme/issue which everyone can relate to. Your title is proof of this; everyone wants and needs attention, but everybody gets wanting and needing mixed up.

3) You point out that no-one is safe, especially those who crave and demand to be a success. Like you said, for every story that wants to be published, there is always a lot more that want to be in the same position.

I love your closing stanza: how it's just on continous sentence, which breaks off with "You" on a new line. Love love love it!

"Does a cat not wished to be stroked?
Does a brother not want to better than the other?
Do you not wish to be known as your dream, ambition or life goal?"

This is my favourite stanza for the simple reason that it sums up the entire mood and feeling of the narrator. Even if the whole poem were these three lines, I'd still be happy and laud it with praise, even if you are aware it adds onto your attention.

This is a stellar piece, well done!

When your heart gets pierced with arrows, don't rip them out and pierce those around you in retribution for your hurt. You'll only unnecessarily wound others and bleed to death yourself.
