deep into the dark

deep into the dark

there, overhead, in the starless dark
where the cold and the empty sky
speaks in riddles of long-lost
delights; seek the heat, the light
and don't speak to space angels
that try to lead you astray

and there, beneath, in the bottomless dark
where the cold and the empty sea
speaks in ancient voices of long-lost
desires; seek the heat, the light
and don't speak to sea angels}
or they're lead you astray

deep, deep into the dark
and the empty places
between surface and deep,
dangerous places
where lies are spilled between
blue, blue lips and
eyes that reflect all light

and there, where all else ends,
in the dark and the deep and
the cold, you will find
the answer to all things;
never react to the dangerous
things you find in the dark

Then let’s look at this old poem 😊 And I’m trying to follow the advice I got on reading poetry ^^

Okkkkayy uhm. Space angels. Somehow, that makes me think of religion. As in that you shouldn’t wait on some god to tell you what is right or wrong. I think in the third film of the Space Trooper franchise, it suddenly got very religious and they had these mech suits drop from the sky which the characters interpreted to be angels and… idk why but this is the first association that came to me when you write “don’t speak to space angels”. Hoo. It’s been like 20 yrs since I watched that movie. Guess that part left an impression on me.

On to the actual poem.

Okay, we have space angels and now sea angels. Also a random } that might or might not be part of the poem (these days one can never be too sure). Voices of the long-lost, all this has me think of sirens or maybe Lorelei-like creatures that lead you astray. Or maybe Cthulhu.

Hmmm all this and yet these lines suggest something more mundane at play:

where lies are spilled between
blue, blue lips and
eyes that reflect all light
like it could be about an actual person that the poem is cautioning against.

Interesting stuff in the least. Hopefully I wasn’t too rambly 😊
