Some words are just easy to say to certain people;
They just roll off the tongue As if they tumbled down from your brain Forgoing the usual filters in place Falling out of your mouth before you can catch them.
Sometimes they come as a surprise- Either from sheer ignorance or denial But sometimes they feel natural Like you should have been saying them all along but were scared.
Some words are just easy to say to certain people; Words like ‘I love you’ and ‘I miss you’ stumble from your lips without a thought And sometimes hearing them out loud for the first time you recognize those feelings. You realize that they’re not just in your head, insincere or exaggerated-
But real, valid, and strong.

Hello SaphireEyes!
This poem is great! I'll bet that it is one of the best-worded poems I have ever read. How you say it all, it feels straight forward, yet, in a way that I cannot describe, complicated. I have thought about this sort of thing, but never thought about putting it in poetic form. I like how you said that when you say those words, you feel their sincerity. I just love this poem on the whole.

Thank you kindly, Kelpies! For the welcome and the review, I'm very glad you enjoyed it
Wow, I love this. This has to be one of the most powerful poems I've read so far.
It is hard to say certain things to certain people. I for one know what it's like to keep things in, out of fear, knowing it would just come out wrong. Confrontation is pretty difficult. I feel that this really touches just how difficult it can be sometimes. Maybe you don't want to hurt someone's feelings? It's the most common thing we think about on a day to day basis, even if we say we might not care.
On the other hand, it is easy to say certain things, I feel, simply because they have become perfunctory.
That's my interpretation anyway, mainly from personal experience.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much, SoundsOfSilence!
I completely agree that some things are very hard to say, especially in the circumstance of confrontation.
I'm crying.
Today I got into a fight with a girl that I thought was my best friend. But best friends don't usually call you a slut, a whore, a bitch and annoying in a group chat with lots of people in it. This poem really brought out those feelings off the names she called me and the words I tried to use to fight back.
All the while she said harsh things to me, I may have said one or two mean things back to her. "Bragger and jerk"
The stanza's in your poem were mind boggling, because they were so true! It's exactly what happens in these types of situations.
Keep writing more things like this, it's so beautiful.
Aw! Crying is not good!
But I am very pleased to know it hit home and that you found it very relatable. Hopefully things between you and your friend get worked out, those fights are always the worst. *hugs*
Hey, Weymouth here to review

This is a beautiful poem, and it is really well written in general. I like in particular the line "tumbled down from your brain" because it actually shows how unintentional saying some words are by using the adjective "tumbled".
I also like how you used the phrase "stumble from your lips" because it's literally what happens in that kind of situation, as you don't realise what you've just said, and the sentences aren't well formed.
A small nitpick is the last stanza, it's a bit long and I read most of it as one sentence, maybe consider adding some commas or semi-colons?
Keep writing, and welcome to YWS
Thank you for the welcome and the thoughtful review, Weymouth!
I am glad that the wording I used in those two cases really came across the way I hoped they would- spot on interpretation. The second and third line in the third stanza were meant to be read kind of rushed, to give you the realization feeling that I was feeling. But I did add a period to kind of break up the rest because it did end up longer than I intended.
SapphireEyes,

First of all, I like your username xP Moving on, I liked the font you used for this, it seemed to fit. It's just to basic, but sort of formal and I just really liked that for the theme of your poem.
I think I liked the first stanza the most (counting your very first line). That stanza sounded like your thoughts "tumbled down from your brain". The rest sounded kind of forced, the third stanza more than the second. But I think that that is just me because I was a little preoccupied at the same time, so don't fret.
But I do agree with @Sherri , the scroll bar was distracting and I lost my train of thought while reading it. Other than all of that, this was my favourite part
"You realize that they’re not just in your head, insincere or exaggerated
But real, valid, and strong."
I loved the contrast between 'insincere' and 'exaggerated'. Perfect touch.
Great job, I'll be looking forward to more of your poems.
Keep expressing.

Thank you for the thoughtful review, Percybeth! Being new and getting used to the formatting the text was an accident, as was the spacing at the top! But I'm glad that it works for the poem. The scroll bar, like I mentioned to Sherri, I had no idea existed until I read everyone's comments- I will try to fix that, it is very distracting and definitely interrupts the flow.
That's amazing and totally relatable! For me it depends on who I'm talking to, too. You are a really good writer. I loved the description words you chose, for me it made it more interesting. I feel if you used less descriptive words it would have come off differently; a bad different. Its perfect how it is and very fun to read. I'm thinking about taking a picture of it and setting it as my screen saver so I can read it all the time. Reading it makes me feel closer to know even though we have never met.
Very, very, super, really good!!

Thank you so much, Savannah! I'm very glad you enjoyed it, I was hoping that people would find it relatable.
I'm flattered that you would consider setting it as your screen saver!
Hi SapphireEyes, Sherri here to review your poem.

You did a great job! I love the imagery, and the actual idea of the poem is one that many can relate to. I especially like the third stanza, where you write about how you don't realize your feelings until you voice them.
My only nitpick with this piece was that the third stanza (as much as I loved it) was a little long. I noticed that the third stanza needed a scroll bar--or whatever you call those--for me to be able to read it. This really clogged up the flow, since I had to stop, scroll, reread the lines, scroll back, and continue. Other than that, though, I couldn't find anything.
Again, I really liked this! Can't wait to see what else you write
Oh, and welcome to the site!
Thank you for the welcome!
I didn't realize the scroll bar until after reading everyone's comments, being new I didn't even realize that was a thing! I will definitely try to fix that.
The second and third line in the third stanza were meant to be read kind of rushed, to give you the realization feeling that I was feeling. But I did add a period to kind of break up the rest because you're entirely right, it was a little lengthy.
Thank you for the thoughtful review!
