Chapter 2
Throughout the entire summer my main focus was talking with the teachers at the neighborhood school and getting to know the kids. As it turns out I was right, the kids were a lot more laid back now that everyone was older. Everyone that is, except for a small, elite clique of girls.
They didn’t look like or act like public school girls. They should really be in the fanciest boarding schools around. All eight of them were classically pretty and smart. They were the It girls of the school. Instantly I shifted my friend making sights down to less godly people.
It seemed that the main hangout was the neighborhood pool. The first time I went there it reminded me of a watering hole and all of the kids were vicious animals. That totally put me in the right mind set for making friends.
When i first went there i walked with a big beach bag loaded with a towel, a book, my iPod, and my cell phone.
When i went through the blue entrance of the pool hall, I instantly knew that I was way out of my league.
Their were so many cliques! And they were all my age so it wasn't like, oh their a grade below my I’ll cross them off my list. No, it was The athletic, funny, cool guys playing some sort of game in the pool. The It girls cheering the boys on, while dipping their feet into the hot tub and talking in a circle. There were a group of normal girls who seemed to be nice playing Marco Polo in the shallow end. Then there was a group of small pale boys standing in the shade with their shirts still on and hands in their pockets, they weren't talking. I’m not sure if the last group even counted as a group because there was only three girls. But they were, um , playing with erasers in the shape of bunnies.
Since i didn't want to be labeled as a freak, so I decided to x off the eraser girls as well as the no talking boys off my list. Well i guess that just left the normal girls. I probably would have chosen them anyway.
I was going to just go up to them and say,
“Hey, my names Georgina. Can I hang out with you?”
But the more i thought of it the more retarded that seemed. Would they think i was a loser? Are they really the mean ones and the It girls were nice? What if they said i couldn't hang out with them?
I choose to get a spot in the shade, stretch out and text. Since i didn't have any friends i settled on texting my older cousin, Josh. I knew he wouldn't mind because he doesn't have any friends either.
Every so often i would glance up just to see what was going on. For the most part everything stayed the same. The It girls started playing water polo with the boys. And the normal girls got out of the water, wrapped themselves in colorful towels and were talking.
A girl from that group looked up right when i looked over there. Are gazes held for a second and she smiled. I smiled back and she went back to talking with her friends, and i went back to texting my lonely older cousin.
About ten minuets later most of the people my age started to leave. I decided that that was my cue too.
On the way home i walked with an extra bounce in my step. I was on my way to making friends! That girl who smiled at me seemed nice. And she smiled instead of looking away. That was something!
I decided i would go to the pool the next day just to see if the girls were there.
I anxiously walked into the pool hall, there weren't as many people here as yesturday. I fast walked around the corner and... yes! The girls were here. The same one that smiled at me yesturday looked up and smiled again. I smiled back and headed over to my spot in the shade.
"Hey!"
I looked over to where the voice came from.
The Smiley Girl was on her feet, when she saw me turn around she waved me over and plopped down.
I nervously walked over leaving my stuff in the shade.
"Hi." I said.
"Hey, do you want to hang out?" asked the girl.
"Sure."
"Then bring your stuff over. By the way my names Betsy." said the smiling girl.
"My names Georgina."

Is it important to know every thing she brings to the pool? In any case, listing them like this isn't a good way to tell us what she brought. Scatter it throughout the chapter like "I took a towel out from my big beach bag and spread it out beneath the shade."
Also, don't forget to capitalize your I's.
If you have a speech tag following a sentence than ends in a period, the period becomes a comma.
Also, the way you used it, "names" should be "name's" since it is a contraction of "name" and "is."
You've got a couple missing and misplaced commas, but reading through this story aloud will help you find these easily. Listen to where you pause or don't pause and add in/delete commas accordingly.
Overall, though, very cute chapter. Georgina's thoughts, feelings, and reactions at the pool felt genuine, and I enjoyed reading about how she finally made some friends. :3
