love cant exactly be explained. i should know. you can say all the words you want, you can go into as much detail as you want, but it wont work. you just have to feel it. but whatever you do, dont go looking for it. if you ever get with the wrong person and break up, love can turn ugly and it might scar you for life. it will make you think that the good part about love isnt worth the ugly part about it. but you will know when you found the one you love. heres what i can explain. fall in love at first sight, its a red light. fall in love with time, and your love is worth more than a dime. love usually doesnt stop just for you, unfortunately. if anything, it goes by faster. i remember when i first fell in love with someone. i was with hem for six months ( as a friend. they wernt interested in me) and me and them got into a big fight and now we dont really talk to each other. now that i look back at it, it feels like i only got a moment with them. nothing more. one way to know if your love is true is trying to remember if they were ever in a sticky situation. did you try to help them no matter what the cost? and if you dont have any situations like that, try looking back on if they were hurt. did you genuinly worry, or did you go " are you okay, are you alright?" just because its the thing you do when someone is hurt? thats the best way i can explain how you know when your love is true. and last but not least, the right time to say " i love you" trying to confess your love? if your moving and this is your last time youll ever see them, throw it out there, loud and proud! dont hesitate. but if you arnt doing that and you just want to confess to get it off your chest, make sure to let them know that your going to say something surprising. tell them to prepaire so that emotions dont come too strongly into the picture. dont put anything poeting or whatever out there, theyll just be weirded out. unless they like pomes or they like that you say stuff poetic-like. just say " i love you" out there, or " i love you as more than a friend" or something like that. thats the best advice i have for you!
Hello!
This a short but sweet poem that explores the emotions and questions that arise when someone falls in love. The poem is written in a simple and straightforward style that is easy to understand, yet still manages to convey the depth and complexity of the feelings associated with being in love.
The poem starts by asking a series of rhetorical questions that express the wonder and joy that comes with being in love. You wonder if love feels like paradise, and whether time seems to stand still when you're with your loved one. These are common feelings that many people experience when they fall in love, and the poem captures them perfectly.
You then reflects on their own style of expressing love, stating that they don't fill notebooks with hearts. This line shows that everyone expresses love in their own unique way, and there's no right or wrong way to do it. You then asks a very important question - how do you know if your love is true? This is a question that many people grapple with when they first fall in love, and the poem acknowledges the complexity of this question.
Finally, the poem ends on a hopeful note, asking when is the right time to say "I love you." This is a question that has no easy answer, and the poem leaves it open-ended, inviting the reader to reflect on their own experiences with love.
Overall, this is a lovely poem that captures the beauty and complexity of falling in love. The simple language and straightforward style make it accessible to readers of all ages and backgrounds, while the questions it poses will resonate with anyone who has experienced the joy and wonder of falling in love
Thank you so much for the review!
Hi Rose, here's a quick review for your poem.
I was kind of confused what you were talking about, since the previous line was saying that drawing hearts in notebooks is not the narrator's thing, so I wasn't sure what "moment" you were talking about. This is a nice poem, I like how the narrator is the one wondering about love, not telling us about it and what we should think about it.
Although, when you said,
I also think that when you said, I think "wonderful" would not be the best word to describe it, since love is a lot more complex, and this sentence is kind of vague.
Lastly, in the first four lines, the narrator seems to not know what love is or what it's like to be in love, but in the rest of the poem, the narrator seems to be asking for advice for being in love because they are already in love.
Otherwise, I really like this poem, especially because it ended with an "I love you."
Thank you!
Hey Rose! looseleaf here with a quick review.
I liked this poem! It was short and sweet and cute; three things that I love! Most of your wording is straightforward and concise, and you are great at getting the theme/point across in a short amount of words. I also enjoy the inquisitive nature of this poem. I feel like most poems about love are so sure about what love is, or at least have their own definition of love, so it was nice to read one where the narrator is truly curious.
Now, onto the critiques! Feel free to ignore/disregard any of these if you don't agree with them.
Personally, I like the picture, but I don't think it adds anything to the poem.
In this first line, there should be a question mark at the end since it's asking something. The next lines are perfect, I wouldn't change them!
Ok, hear me out: these lines are weird to me. They're great lines, don't get me wrong! They just don't fit the rest of the poem. The rest of the poem seems like someone who has not experienced it asking about love--then how would she know it's not her smile? And who would she live in that moment with? I don't know, they feel off to me. I would either get rid of them or add a couple more lines that make it more clear.
To me, it would make more sense to say "know" than "say." I think it's the proper phrase and it flows a bit better.
I love the ending and the little heart at the end! It wraps the whole piece up nicely. Overall, I think this is a solid, good poem. It's unique in its own right but also feels very familiar and sweet.
Have a good day and keep writing!
Hi looseleaf!
Thank you for the review.
Maybe I should replace "say" by "know". And I probably should add the question mark.
I appreciate your opinion, but I'd rather keep those two "weird" lines. Maybe it doesn't entirely fit, but "weird" is just part of my personality.
Once more, thank you so much for the review!
