This is my first short story I wrote in this website so I might need help.  Hope you enjoy! :D

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Something's off about Fiona lately." Jesse said, staring at the back of the little girl. Long, thin arms held a girl's text-books tight, staring at the floor instead of him before heading to her "Introduction to The Study of Fiction" class. Ignoring Jesse, Gerald stared at her, her silky hair to her slender wrist that seemed so easy to crush.

"Hey, are you even listening?" Jesse snapped right at Gerald's face. He hated that little snitch, Jesse always found a way to drive him right into the wall with it. He sometimes wondered why in the world did he become friends with Jesse in the first place.

"'Cause I'm handsome, Gerry." he would say, flipping his blond hair away from his eyes. Gerald would always roll his eyes. Show-off.

Gwin nudged Gerald slightly, an evil smirk on her face. He cursed under his breath.  Blasted Women and their smirks- such a horrible/good combination, especially when that woman is your twin sister. "Oh leave him be. He's stuck in his la la land where Fiona kisses him 'til he drops." Jesse burst out laughing while Gerald shot daggers at Gwin who just smirked at him.

"Well, you have been staring at her ever since Spring semester started," Jesse said, giving Gerald a "don't-lie" look, "Why don't you ask her out or something?"

Gerald gave him a look like he was half insane. "She's too fragile. You know how f*cked-upped her life is. She doesn't trust men at all."

At once, Gwin's expression softened like cream. She was like that a lot, one minute she was out there ready to hang Gerald's head in her souvenir self, and then the next, she's a perfect angel. That was one reason Gerald almost always took the blame when they were younger. "I know. That's just horrible and-"

"F*cked-upped. Ya I know. I try to be nice to her and get her to see something nice in men, but.... I don't think it's working so well." Gerald rubbed the back of his head, remembering those rare moments when Fiona would let her innocent pink lips curve up into a breath-taking smile. He always fell to sleep with that in mind.

"Trust me, she's into you." Jesse took a sip of his Coke before waving at one of his fan-girls. "I notice her sneaking glances at you once in awhile." He laughed when Gerald's cheeks grow a bit red, totally ignoring the death glare he received. "But seriously, Fiona has been acting a bit... distant lately."

"She's always distant." Gerald mumbled, staring at his assignment about how water molecules affect fire molecules (A/N: Hey don't blame me, I kinda suck at science). He was always called the "Science Geek" back at home for his desire to know about the beginning of time and the dream of making a time machine and being able to see how he would look like 25 years later. He never minded the nick-name, it was actually partly true.

"But not like this." Jesse insisted, suddenly serious. "I heard her roommate say that Fiona is always in the room, hiding herself with the curtains draped close and barely talks to her at all. She's suddenly so calm, totally ignoring the bullies here without a single shed of tears. I'm serious, guys, I just learned in class about signs of causing suicide-"

Gwin nearly coughed out all of her water. "What? You're telling me Fiona's fr**king suicidal??" That jerked Gerald awake, his dark grey eyes emotionless and alert like a predator. Fiona? Suicidal? But that was impossible- she was too sweet to do so, too kind and innocent to end her life.

Jesse gave Gerald a nervous look. He was rarely in his predator state, they called it, suddenly all alert as if for danger and his eyes glowed almost a dangerous, spine-chilling silver. Nobody saw this side of him for a very long time- after Fiona nearly got killed by a bunch of drunks. It was- felt, so unnatural. Like he was more animal than human.

"I don't know, probably. She's not saying stuff like 'I want to die' or 'No one wants me alive' and sh*t." Jesse shrugged, trying not to fidget under Gerald's cold glare. "Just stay alert and talk to her about it."

Gerald didn't say anything. He just checked his watch, stood up in silence and walked away, his dark aura clearly shown to everyone who passed by. He didn't give a damn if he scared the cr*p out of people, they were worthless anyway. All he could think about was Fiona, sweet innocent Fiona who doesn't deserve to die in a horrific way. He knew he had to do something, but with Fiona's background with men who raped her and tortured her before being rescued, that was probably what kept her from expressing her feelings to anybody. Even her loving mother.

He passed the English building where he would usually see Fiona's little head full of black curls on the stairway, reading a book before class started, expect that she wasn't there. Which was weird because she was very organized person, she was use to her normal routine- wake up, stay in her room or wander around the campus, talk to Gerald and the rest before 10:30 a.m. for her Language Arts class and so forth. She would freak out if anything changed in her schedule, or at least, that was what she said. Just for precaution, he took a peek inside the window of her Fiction class- usually she would also come inside to talk to the professor, but the class was completely empty. Now Gerald was getting worried.

"So she is suicidal." he thought, shaking his head in disgrace. He had to admit she was acting a bit distance and quiet than usual. "But then again, maybe she just went to use the restroom or something...." But she would have done that before going outside or else she would have gone nuts. That was one thing that made Fiona interesting and a bit insane.

Growing agitated, he searched around the building, looking for any clues of her passing. As he passed by the secret garden- just outside the university, that Sidgina High University was most famous for besides the amazing classes, he heard the slightest noise that shouldn't be mingled with the swaying leaves and the singing birds- muffled crying. Trying to calm down, Gerald rushed to the source of that heart-wrenching sound and immediately froze. Fiona was surrounding by a blood bath, a sharp knife slicing through her veins, and her beautiful black hair was streaked with crimson red.

"Fiona!" Gerald immediately rushed to her side or tried to anyway. She raised the knife and said in a shaky voice, "Don't go any closer." He was shocked, she never in her time with him or anyone ever threatened someone like that.

"Fiona, please-"

"No! Just leave me alone!" she screamed, tears running down her red cheeks. His heart nearly fell out of his chest at the sight of his innocent girl crying and bleeding in front of him. He wanted to wrench that knife out of her hand (it seemed so strange on her) and shake her until she got some common sense into her brain, but that would just make things worse. He cursed, wondering why did she always had to be so... difficult.

"Fiona, this isn't right... this, no, this-" He stopped to take a quick breath. He felt like crying and he didn't need to look like a weakening when a person's life was in his hands. Stop, think, Jesse had talk a bit about how to deal with a suicidal person, he just had to remember what he said.

"Be yourself, listen, under no circumstances argue with the person. And most of all, offer hope."

"Offer hope." Gerald thought, slowly walking towards Fiona as if she was just a frightened dog and he was the owner. She whimpered, raising the knife as if to threaten him but it was clear in her placid chocolate brown eyes that she wouldn't even harm a fly. He managed a smile and muttered softly in his soothing voice that almost every women would want to hear, all the while slowly prying the knife away from her hands and tossing it like it was poison.

"I can't deal with this, Gerald," Fiona sobbed, her tears mingling with the blood, "I can't live in this life anymore, I can't! I just can't-" She gave into his strong arms and cried her heart out. She felt comfort in those arms, warm and safe from the dark world she had grown up with in her young child years. She always felt like this with Gerald, always had the urge to come out early in the morning just to see his strong build in body and that sexy smile that softened the rough edges of his mouth. He was so handsome and seemed so experienced with.... love even though she knew he had no real interest for girls at all.

Before she came along.

Gerald didn't say anything for a long time, just held her there, uncaring that blood was stained on his clothes forever. He just allowed all of her despise and nightmares to resurface and pass like the tears that flowed down her beautiful chocolate brown eyes. She was beautiful, a single daisy in a meadow, and she didn't deserve such a treatment like death.

"I know you feel lost," he whispered in a husky voice, caressing her hair in comfort, "I may never be able to relate to such a past you have even though I had a mother who was alcoholic."

Immediately, Fiona's complete attention was on him, concern written on her face when she should have been concerned for her well being. "You had a mother who was alcoholic?"

He nodded, showing no sorrow or remorse. That was what was interesting about him, he rarely showed emotions in times like these, just a quiet acceptance of what had happened and moved on. That was one reason Fiona was so attracted to him- she wished she was like him, consuming all of her fears and move on with life.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Because you never asked." he replied, a slight teasing note in his voice. Fiona wanted to smile, but it just made her cry all over again. She buried her face into his chest and thought, "What is the use of a little girl like me to a strong man like him?" She had no idea why he was so attracted to her, why he even sought her out in the first place, but he did and now he was her unexpected savior.

"I don't know if I should continue on...." Fiona said, not sure if she meant to carry on with the suicide or continue on with her wasted life.

Gerald just continued to stroke her hair in a way that caused her to blush red. He smiled, liking how men could make a women blush like that. It was both intriguing and fascinating. If Gwin heard what he just thought, she would be onto him for months- years.

"You're not alone, Fiona," he stated in a calm voice, "You will be never alone." He cupped her cheeks, making her blush some more. "Because you have me."

Fiona closed her eyes, wanting to listen to that voice until the end of her life. Maybe the world wasn't so cruel after all if she had someone to share the experience with her, to share and lessen the pain with her. With her, never apart, together for all eternity. Maybe there was such thing as true love. Maybe she was wasting away her life if she ended it right now, and would probably waste another.

Gerald bent his head to her, making her fully aware of how close they were together. "I love you, Fiorella Stardust."

Fiorella sighed, not caring if he used her real name than the nickname she used her whole life. "I.. I love you too, Gerald Dustin."

He smiled, that smile that sent butterflies flying through her stomach as he slowly placed his lips onto her pink lips, grabbing her as if he couldn't live without her. And it was slightly true- they would forever need each other to sustain each other, they would need each others comfort to face the unknown, but whatever happens to them in the near by future, they would do it- together.

Hi.
This was your first work, right? It was good. I promised you to read your story, right and I've done it. Haha.
Anyway, on with the review.
Your idea was interesting. I won't say much but I found some mistakes but I couldn't list it because I had no time at all. XD
I hope you will keep writing and writing even it is gibberish. However, don't published it, keep it hidden and as your aspiration. It will definitely build up your writer's muscles. I hope this helped. Good luck!

I found the concept to be cliché, but your storytelling maintained my interest. I liked Gerald's character because he accepts Fiorella despite her past. It takes a lot of courage to do that.

Jesse said, staring at the mid-level curly black-brown hair that swayed with the petite head movements.

This sentence doesn't make sense to me. It basically says that Jesse's staring at the hair of a girl, not the girl herself. You should rephrase it.

Long, thin arms held a girl's text-books tight, staring at the floor instead of him before heading to her "Introduction to The Study of Fiction" class.

1. The first part's confusing. Whose long, thin arms are they? The girl's? Make that clearer.
2. You don't need "instead of him". It doesn't sound right.

He hated that little snitch

I'm guessing Gerald hates Jesse, the little snitch. Replace "he" with "Gerald".

"'Cause I'm handsome, Gerry." he would say

Here, replace "he" with "Jesse".

You have an author's note in the middle of your story. It can put off some readers. If you have to tell us anything, do it at the start or at the end. In addition, you said that you "suck at Science". As a writer, you should do the required research. Search up the topics colleges teach in Science, briefly understand it, and choose one to mention it here. It makes you look more professional.

Moreover, why was she trying to commit suicide at the university? If she was so sure about it, wouldn't she go somewhere she's not disturbed? Just work on that bit.

In the last few paragraphs, I liked how he's trying to talk her out of it and then confessed.

You have put effort into it, and I can see a lot of potential.

Well done, and keep writing!

Thanks a lot! Sorry, I couldn't tell you a bit earlier. :)

No problem! :)

Nice story! Though I am puzzeled why you wrote down a bunch of curse words. It kind of makes me uncomfortable. I like the characters names though, especially Fiorella Stardust. It's just like an amazing fairytale! Though it was kind of adult content, it was an amzing story and I hope you write more just like it!

Thank you. Sorry about the curse words, the characters wanted to do so 'cause well.... they're in college and are "young-adults" if you can say that. Still, thank you again. :D
