A Moment in Passing

I wrote this for a show in my performing arts class. It had to be about mothers in some way, and I know it's a little repetitive. It isn't autobiographical or anything, just words that set themselves to a tune stuck in my head.

My ma is still here
she can't speak
But believe me, she's not dead

They say that she's passed
I don't care
I remember what she said

She said she'd never pass away
No she'd never pass away
Though it'd seem she'd gone the way
Of the others gone away
If my mama were to lose
Pass is not the word you'd use
I don't know what she deserved
But it'd be a lovely word

Mama would stay here
Perse-vere
Her smiles never end

She's off to explore
The whole world
She's just playing pretend

Her eye would leave your eye
And in flying pass you by
But my mama'd never die
Cause my mama'd never lie
Though it'd seem that she had passed
I was the one that saw her last
She said she'd never pass away
No she'd never pass away

If she left, then you'd hear
She'd explode
and she'd make the world weep

And when I'm alone
I listen
And hear her singing me to sleep

(Bridge)
She'd never be cross
She'd never be cruel
She'd never be lost
Do you think I'm a fool

In the ground she'd never lie
She would reach and grab the sky
And forever she would stay
She will never pass away
It will be some great surprise
Complete with flowers in her eyes
And they all will realize
Mama will never pass away

Hmmm...it's alright, but not really my style.

It's very nice, I'm excited to hear it!

Only fault I can really find, is that there isn't a line the repeats enough to hold it together. Without a doubt, you're senior to me with songwriting, but from an audience perspective, it better be very very sweet, or else it might be forgettable.

And...
"If my mama were to lose
Pass is not the word you'd use
I don't know what she deserved
But it'd be a lovely word"

... Is the nicest part of the song.

I think I'll be getting a better feel of this when I hear it sung though...

Good job.
