She walks with confidence, without fear. She knows the world is full of backstabbers. She knows they’d hurt her, they’d misuse her. And now, they talk about her. But she paints the canvas of her grievous life with bright colours of smiles and love. Her palette full of colours of fake joy. She knows, one day, she will be genuinely blithe and untroubled. But till then, she musters all her courage up and survives. She was once a bubbly, cheerful girl, but the world changed her into a miserable, depressed lady. From a girl to a lady, in a matter of 2 years. Not physically, of course, but mentally.
Shook from acts of betrayal and hatred, she embarked on a journey of re-building herself. The only thing she’d hear would be whispers, all the same.
“It's her.”
But she’d ignore them and walk straight on with her chin up and a smile plastered on her face. The girl who once followed her heart, now followed her head. Her head wanted to show them they were nothing to her, to show them she was brave. But her heart said something else. Her heart wanted to cry out aloud, to shout out that they were cowards and backbiters, to tell them that they’d destroyed her. But she’d changed. Now she behaves like a puppet in the hands of society. She’s still sensible though. She’d cut off the threads as soon as she gets back to her feet. And she struggles with all her courage and she is fearless now. They think they manipulate her, but they do not know that she is mocking them. They don’t know she’s onto something big.

You sound like me after I first started living on my own before I was even in my teens. The world experienced first hand changes you for better or worse, based on what you experience. In a case like yours or mine, you feel miserable and depressed. Something I can relate to easily. Being back stabbed is something most don't get used to and are too naive to understand until it happens.
A person lives only one of two ways. A slave to society, or free as an outcast. Everyone falls into one those of two ways.
That's completely true. And it is bound to happen to all of us.
Yes, you give a slave. Or stand against society in defiance, living freely. I live in defiance of society choosing to be myself, I am the 1% and I'm proud of it. The 99% who become slaves to society can bite me.

Being a rebel basically, and that's kinda great and difficult at the same time. Though, living freely is totally a choice, and that it'd be better if we all do so ^.^
I'm a natural rebel, yeah perfect word. I live how I want, the way I want, everyday. Most people aren't so lucky to do that.
Yep, I can see that from the way you seem so easy with such topics
Hey Reet3103! First off, congratulations on one of your first posts! I really enjoyed reading this. This felt like quite a personal story when I read it. Are you speaking from a personal experience?
I really like the ambiguity of the person in question - "her" and "she". I personally interpret it as women in general, especially adolescents that are going through a rough time. Perhaps social pressures, or peer pressure or something like that. 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger' springs to mind.
My only issue is the typo - it should be "It's", spelled with an apostrophe, as opposed to "Its", which denotes possession. Other than that, I really enjoyed this piece.
Note: this is my first review so if I didn't help with anything at all, apologies. Keep on writing, you seem to know what you're talking about! This was excellent writing.
Edit: I'm blind. You have published other stuff. Still, this was great!
Thank you and yes, personal experience. Good try at reviewing, I suck at it too :p
